A digital banking client with offices in the Western Cape & Johannesburg are recruiting for a Business Systems Analyst to join their team on a permanent basis.

Business Systems Analyst | Permanent | Western Cape or Johannesburg

Purpose Statement:

  • Liaise with business to formulate and hand over enabling functional capabilities for Business Process Management and Web Omni channel/API environments
  • Steer the system development processes through linking internal and external IT technical resources to facilitate the successful implementation and maintenance of such systems.
  • Compile test plans and ensure delivery is according to business requirements
  • Continuous business and industry research to guide the critical evaluation of new and existing software / application solutions

External environment:

  • Ad hoc liaison with external service / solution providers (i.e. software vendors)

Internal environment:

  • The job holder operates within the following internal policies:

  • The job holder must adhere to internal Systems development Quality Standards and the approved SDLC
  • The job holder will liaise with various internal departments:

  1. All other departments with the Systems Development Team
  2. Other departments in IT:- IT Production, IT Risk, IT Innovation, IT Infrastructure Architecture, IT Support Services & Implementation
  3. Channel Sales: Operations
  4. BSC: Contact Center, Collections, Branch & Card Support
  5. Card Services & Business Development: Business Development, Project Office
  6. Finance: BI, Financial Accounting
  7. HR
  8. Credit
  9. Risk

Systems environment:

  • The job holder is NOT responsible for any critical banking systems and / or system components
  • The job holder uses or refers to the following critical banking systems and / or system components during the execution of tasks / projects:

  1. Bancs
  2. Vmax
  3. SMG3 (Rules Engine)
  4. Credit Bureaux
  5. SBL
  6. Documentum
  7. xPression
  8. STrack
  9. Active Directory (AD)

Key Performance Areas:

  • Provide service to the business by ensuring system change requests for specific business units are actioned

  1. People (Department Management)
  2. Risk & control / compliance

  • Budgeting, control and reporting

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

  • Provide service to the business by ensuring system change requests for specific business unit are actioned
  • Planning of the development of all project and non-project related tasks

  1. Accountable for service availability and associated measures - service level analysis and improvement planning
  2. Provide input and guidance to various project initiatives aligned to business drivers in the Channels Sales, Operations environment
  3. Manage and resolve all aspects of service disruptions
  4. Apply Agile principles
  5. Receive requests from business
  6. Clarify business request
  7. Contract timelines with clients
  8. Hand over functional descriptions to software development team
  9. Ensure clear understanding of business request
  10. Contract process and approach to address business requirement
  11. Contract timelines with respect to feedback
  12. Track progress against timelines
  13. Follow-up with team to ensure feedback is provided
  14. Workshop Functional Requirements with the Business Analysts to ensure full understanding of the business requirements
  15. Workshop Technical Specifications with the Architects to ensure full understanding of the technical specifications
  16. Ensure on-time delivery of code by the development team
  17. Assist developers with compilation and execution of unit test plans and integration testing
  18. Engage with the UAT team to ensure the smooth transfer of code from development to UAT
  19. Ensure the prompt task testing and sign off by Business Analysts in UAT
  20. Ensure quality of work through regular monitoring and continuous improvement
  21. Coordinate the investigation and fixing of production issues
  22. Provide guidance on improving the quality of the outputs
  23. Ensure outputs are delivered to quality and on time to the requesting person

System Availability

  1. Responsible for ensuring system availability according to pre-defined SLAs with the various business units by monitoring uptime against contracted SLA

People

  1. Ensure transfer of knowledge, maintain motivation and personal development for team members
  2. Responsible for on-the-job training of team (both functional and soft-skills) to ensure the sharing of knowledge and key learning with the team on a regular basis
  3. Create and maintain a positive working environment

?Risk & control / compliance

  1. Overall responsible to ensure audit findings related to the Online lending function are addressed according to agreed management comments on audit report

?Budgeting, control and reporting

  1. Provide input into departmental budget, including departmental OPEX and CAPEX budgets
  2. Ensure all department expenditure are approved according to delegation of authority
  3. Provide input for monthly reporting

  • Provide feedback to the Manager: Systems Development (Branch, Sales & HR) on team’s progress as part of monthly combined department progress / output report

Qualifications

  1. At least Grade 12 with minimum 7 - 10 years’ relevant software development experience as a Business Analyst in the Retail Credit, Online Banking or E-commerce Industry. OR
  2. Ideally a relevant 3-year tertiary qualification in Business and Information Technology (e.g. B.Comm. Information Systems) with minimum 3 years’ relevant software development experience as a Business Analyst in the Retail Credit, Online Banking or E-commerce Industry.

Knowledge

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of:

  1. Business Process Management (BPM)
  2. The Banking Industry (Products and Customer needs)
  3. RPA or DPA - Digital Process Automation
  4. The Internet and developing Web-based products and services
  5. Web applications related to money transactions
  6. Online client behaviour and industry best practices
  7. Business analysis and design
  8. Project Management principles and methodologies
  9. Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  10. Agile development principles and methodologies (certification will be advantageous)
