I literally just landed in Detroit Metro from a trip to Connecticut.? It has been a while since I traveled on an airplane. How about you? The experience was better than what I had feared from watching the news - during my trip, it was great and everybody moved through the lines perfectly, the fliers were friendly, as was the airplane crew.
Fortunately, my flights were on time, and I did not experience any difficulty.? Having said that, life does not always go that smoothly.? The purpose of my travel was to meet with colleagues from around the country.? We got back together to start sharing things again about what is happening in the world and the problems we see our clients facing in the year 2022 - how are people feeling about where they are at today financially with all the issues going on.
Three major takeaways I got from that meeting:?
- As advisors, we are all doing the same thing we were prior to covid, listening to the problems our clients face and helping them navigate through the changes in their lives.? I have been working remotely since 2017 when I learned about having meetings over the web where I could see my clients, they could see me, and we could share a computer screen!? When covid hit, my husband and I were in our RV in Texas - the whole resort cleared out and we had just paid for a month of rent.? We decided to stay put and are glad we made that decision.? The next few weeks, I had more zoom calls than ever before and helped those clients I serve get through an unexpected time in their life.? I’m still working remotely during the winter months and still solving the issues of getting more money in the hands of my clients by avoiding losses to taxes and market fluctuations.
- The second theme from our meeting was that we are here to help protect and grow assets for our clients, to help alleviate financial fears, and to continue to review all aspects of the protection, savings, and growth.? With each new year, the stability of a financial plan is tested by inflation, taxation, and market risks.? We help our clients navigate during those times to be in the best position possible given the economic situation at the time.
- The third and maybe biggest takeaway is to get back to talking to one another on a more personal level.? Text messaging and other forms of non-verbal communication has taken center stage, when really, a face to face (or even camera to camera) communication uncovers so many issues that are hard to get out of a text.??
After each of the videos I share with you, I offer a link to find a time to connect that works on both our schedules.? Whether over zoom conference or in person, I would love to have a conversation about ways to grow, protect, and build your future access to money.
