Business Spotlight - The Calder Clinic

This month our spotlight is on The Calder Clinic, which Elizabeth Robinson established in 2019. Read on for more information about her journey as a new business

Hi! Allow me to introduce myself and my business. I’ve been enjoying a fantastic career as a fully qualified clinical dentist for over 25 years, both private and with the National Health Service. With more medical and dental professionals branching out into the growing sector of aesthetics, in 2019 I felt this was an exciting area worth further investigation!

I started researching the aesthetics industry in detail, liaised with my medical and dental colleagues throughout the UK, and planned my training with the most respected UK training programme. I was on a mission to provide a range of treatments using the safest, purest, best quality products and techniques.?It soon became clear that my medical experience could add real value to this growing sector.

I registered the business in March 2020. I invested significantly in permanent, discreetly located premises just 5 minutes’ drive from J25 on the M62, engaged a branding agency to launch The Calder Clinic, and then… the pandemic hit.

Overnight, all weddings, parties, and major events ground to a halt – and when people did leave the house, they were wearing masks and entirely unconcerned about what they looked like! Not the stellar start I’d envisaged.

However, as the various lockdowns have eased, the business is really finding its feet. My clients appreciate the full wraparound service I offer – from the initial consultation right through to the treatments, and then the follow up care I provide as standard. Having the premises on hand means I can be fully flexible with appointments too - Sunday night? No problem!

I’m acutely aware that it’s a big decision to undertake some of these treatments and as the mother of two teenage girls I’m particularly sensitive to the pressures younger people are under to look a certain way. That’s why The Calder Clinic has a strict “no pressure” ethical policy; I spend time with all my customers to ensure they’re fully informed and happy about any treatments before they go ahead.

Word of mouth and referrals are bringing new customers to the Clinic. I love seeing how the subtlest tweaks can have such a huge impact on someone’s confidence and happiness. I’m constantly researching new innovations and products in the sector, and I believe it’s this attention to detail that will ensure the business continues to grow.
