Business recruitment experts on the road
Staffordshire County Council
Working to support businesses to grow and thrive, to create a strong economy, new, and better jobs for local people.
Staffordshire Jobs and Careers recruitment experts have been out and about this week at the 'Let's Talk Business' event at Uttoxeter Racecourse, talking to businesses about their fully-funded talent-finding service that's available to every business in Staffordshire.
With over 100 years of combined experience, the team works collaboratively with businesses to find the talent that's the right professional and cultural fit. And there's no cost to business - guaranteed.
Mick Sturland, one of the employment specialists said:
"It was a fantastic event, really busy and some great contacts made.? These events really help us to get to businesses that want to take out the stress and cost that comes with recruitment.
What makes our service different is that we are already funded, there are no hidden costs, and for that reason businesses can be assured that we'll spend the time working with them to find the right person that is the right overall fit."

Young professionals lead the way in electric vehicle development
Samuel Bishop and Lewis Anderson, just 19 and 24, are shaping electric vehicle development in Staffordshire after completing their work experience placements.
Both now work in full-time, paid-positions at Staffordshire County Council, and are integral to the coordination of the development of the charging infrastructure across Staffordshire.
While not directly responsible for installing and maintaining the EV charging network, as the highways authority and a major landowner, the county council is thoroughly involved in all things electric vehicle.
Samuel completed a voluntary twelve-week programme organised by the county council’s Staffordshire Jobs and Careers team of recruitment experts.? The team has supported hundreds of residents to get into paid employment through their ‘Open Door’ scheme.
Lewis is now the authority’s Electric Vehicle Project Manager after spending two years at the Council completing the National Graduate Development Programme (NGDP) - now called Impact?-?before securing his job.
Talent just like Samuel and Lewis are ready and waiting for your job opportunity.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Major improvement scheme on busy town centre roundabout completed
Work to bring lasting improvements to a busy roundabout in Stafford town centre following a £1.4million investment has been completed.
The scheme at the A34 Gaol Square roundabout took place over the summer after the county council secured additional central government funding, giving the key junction lasting improvements for two to three decades.
It has included resurfacing and repairs to the footways, kerbs and drains. The B5066 Gaol Road has also been resurfaced for a 100-metre stretch, along with the other approaches to the roundabout.
It is part of an overall £9million programme to improve the town’s roads and cycling and pedestrian routes. Much of the main roundabout surfacing took place overnight to minimise disruption.
Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for strategic highways Mark Deaville said:
“We’re pleased to see this scheme now complete on one of Stafford’s key gateway junctions.
“We understand the works in and around Stafford have brought considerable disruption for which we apologise for and thank people for their continued patience.

£65,000 of illegal vapes, cigarettes and banned foods seized in Staffordshire
Trading Standards officers at Staffordshire County Council have seized illegal vapes, illicit cigarettes, and illegal food items, with an estimated?retail value of over £65,000.
Officers supported by Staffordshire Police, Home Office Immigration and Lichfield District Council’s Environmental Health team made the discovery during raids at four premises, two in Lichfield and two in Burntwood on Monday 7 October.?
More than 2,850 illegal or oversized vapes, 42,600 cigarettes, 17 kg of hand rolling tobacco and 463 illegal food items including American candy and drinks were seized.
Officers were also supported by specially trained search dogs who discovered the tobacco in hidden compartments including inside the stairs in one of the shops.
The action was part of Operation CeCe and Operation Joseph, both national initiatives to tackle the sale of illicit tobacco and illegal vapes respectively.
Victoria Wilson, Cabinet Member responsible for Trading Standards at Staffordshire County Council, said:
“Our officers continue to tackle the sale of illicit and illegal products and this was a significant seizure.
“The supply of illegal goods is closely linked to organised crime and helps fund their operations. The items can also be dangerous to people’s health and affect legitimate traders, so taking them off the market is a real result.”
People can report the sale of illegal goods online at Trading Standards Report It - Staffordshire County Council or on the confidential helpline on 01785 330356.
