Business Process Automation (BPA) is an advanced technology used to automate and streamline complex processes within a business (Gaikwad, 2021). Manual and repetitive tasks are automated, allowing business teams to shift their focus to more critical tasks (Malak, 2022, a). A survey by Camunda (2022) found that 92% of respondents agree that implementing BPA is a key strategy to optimise and streamline business processes. These respondents further agreed that BPA is necessary to minimise employees’ mundane workloads so that they can focus on core business activities.

According to a study by Camunda (2022), the main driver of an improved customer experience is closely followed by driving “digital transformation” strategies, reducing operational costs and minimising human error.

BPA reduces the amount of “time and resources” required to complete a task through the automation of repetitive and administrative tasks while also completing these tasks faster than their human counterparts. Thus allowing employees to eliminate time spent on wasteful tasks and rather focus on skill-oriented work (Malak, 2022, b).?

Manual management of your business operations introduces a higher likelihood of resource wastage, whereas BPA manages your resources in the most “optimal” and “cost-effective way” (Kane, 2022).?

According to a study by Camunda (2022), one third of IT leaders achieved a 100% return on investment (ROI) and 72% report a minimum ROI of 50% in the same year of implementing BPA.

82% of respondents in a study by Camunda (2022) reported that implementing BPA has become higher on the organisations’ list of priorities than it was in the previous year. For companies that want to embark on digital transformation, BPA has proven to be a valuable first time in this journey.
