At just 20 years old, Monte is the founder of PureFlow Filtration, a startup committed to revolutionising the way Australians experience water in their homes.

PureFlow’s whole-house water filtration systems are designed to offer more than just cleaner water - they aim to provide relief from skin and hair conditions that are often aggravated by harsh chemicals found in tap water. "It's not just about filtration; it's about enhancing people's quality of life," Monte explains. "I saw the need for a solution that could help people live healthier, more comfortable lives, especially those who struggle with issues like eczema or dry skin."

One of PureFlow’s key differentiators is the use of natural filters in their systems, such as coconut filters made from coconut shells and another filter that utilises copper and zinc to capture harmful heavy metals like lead. And, they offer a 5-year product warranty and a 7-year workmanship warranty, which shows they believe in the high quality of their product and they want their customers to also. "We stand by our systems because we know they make a real difference," Monte explains.

A story that stands out involves a family from the Middle East who moved to Australia and began experiencing skin issues and hair loss attributable to the local water. After installing a PureFlow system, they noticed significant improvements within just a week. "Their reaction was amazing," Monte recalls. "They were so relieved and happy that they started recommending us to their neighbours, in fact, we’ve now installed systems in five houses in their street. That kind of impact is what drives me."

Monte’s journey into entrepreneurship is unconventional. Monte’s drive was shaped early on by his love for sports and competition - a strong runner he competed in state and national competitions and always did well. Then, Monte decided to leave school early, eager to start getting hands on work experience. He started at McDonald’s, followed by a role in solar sales. Monte quickly developed a strong work ethic. “I did huge hours in those first years of working, I loved it and I loved earning money and feeling independent…I learnt a lot from those jobs," Monte says. "They taught me discipline, the importance of hard work, and how to set and achieve goals - skills that are crucial when you're running your own business."

Despite PureFlow’s early success, Monte remains grounded. He emphasises the importance of wellbeing and balance, even as he pushes for growth. "It's easy to get caught up in the hustle, but I make it a point to take care of my health and make time for the things that are important to me, like staying active," he shares. Monte is very disciplined, his impressive health routine includes eating healthy, carefully monitoring his sleep, going to the gym, having an ice-bath then a sauna every day, going for a run twice a week, and lifting weights four days a week.

As Monte plans to expand PureFlow nationally, his leadership style reflects the lessons he's learned. "I believe in creating a work environment where my team feels supported and valued," he says. "I've moved away from the competitive management style I had at McDonald's and now focus more on nurturing growth and ensuring everyone feels rewarded as the business grows."

For aspiring entrepreneurs like him, Monte offers simple but powerful advice: "Perseverance is everything. The early days are tough, but if you stay focused and take care of yourself, you can push through the challenges. Even when you might start doubting if things are going to work, if you believe in your product and how it can help people, eventually things will click into place - hang in there." “And don’t be embarrassed to ask people for advice - in PureFlow’s early days, I felt embarrassed when things weren’t working, but now I wish I’d reached out for advice and help earlier, so I didn’t feel so alone.”
