Most of the times, you will wake up, go to work, attend meetings, strike deals. Sometimes, you will think of starting on something new (investment) every time you have an extra coin.
But that is very little to think of in terms of "business mentality". What I have learned to do as a practicing business developer, is to really think of what can bring more business. If you are in a meeting between two different corporate negotiating for a strategic partnership, what gives you the most points?
Well, you really need to understand your company needs, goals and objectives. Knowing your company's operations and business model is as crucial as knowing your children needs and nature. That is the advantage that propels your ideas.
In that meeting, do not buy any idea, buy ONLY that which gives you the most harvest especially in the long term. Consequently, do not focus on the monetary advantage, think beyond coins and gold.
Courage is the noun that you have to know it's definition as a practicing business developer. Courage is the reflection of confidence while confidence is the reflection of intelligence. To have it, learn the facts and you will be able to stand still.
If it's not making sense to you, just brush it off, but with reason and or with facts and in a good way.
