Business and Labor Organisations Call for Renewed Multilateralism From G20 Countries

Business, campaigning, younger me nearly a priest. 'Net Positive: how courageous companies thrive by giving more than they take' #3 Thinkers50
Leaders from 13 international business and labor organisations have sent a strong message to G20 countries: step up global collaboration to tackle global crises. Together, we have written a letter to G20 governments calling for renewed multilateralism to deliver an inclusive and resilient recovery from the convergence of crises facing our world.
I have signed the statement on behalf of IMAGINE alongside leaders from the World Economic Forum, International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), UN Global Compact, International Chamber of Commerce, The B Team, World Business Council for Sustainable Development, BSR, The Climate Group, Business for Nature, The International Organisation of Employers, the We Mean Business Coalition and the Capital Coalition
The organisations represent a total market cap of over $25 trillion, around a quarter of the entire global economy, while the ITUC represents over 200 million workers in 163 countries. We recognise that global cooperation can put the world on a path to a sustainable and inclusive recovery. We have come together around this imperative and to ask G20 governments to:
- Spend, but spend smartly.
- Tackle inequality through social protection.
- Mitigate risks to the global economy by bridging the “stimulus gap” in emerging markets.
- Lead the world on climate action.
- Reverse nature loss.
Our call comes ahead of this month’s G20 Finance Ministers’ Meeting and Heads of State Summit. The outcomes of both of these convenings will be critical to determining how to deliver an economic recovery that works for all people and the planet.

4 年Everybody praises Mr Polman as a great leader yet the very company he last served was unable to hold onto him at until 2020.? This year 2020 was the deadline to the targets he implemented around 2010 to half the company’s emissions while doubling it’s productivity.? Why was this man/CEO with the winning formula and wisdom not meant to be, could be? in that environment anymore. ? Leadership is within every one of us and no matter what your role is within a business the choice is yours to step up and drive the changes needed. Be a human first.? We can praise Mr Polman, till the cows come home like he is some rare species endeavoring to save the planet or you can be a human first and understand your part within a business for being silent, going with the flow and destroying our planet.? Can the culture change come from within companies to cultivate leadership.? The current trend is most certainly to trade human values for money. ? The happy slave cries leadership.?
