Cloud analytics enables true real-time dashboards that support the pace of business decisions by bringing visualizations directly on top of cloud data platforms - and it’s a hot topic at the moment.
So when I came across this whitepaper I had to share. It explores just how much the people, process, and technology to support a modern data warehouse have evolved, while traditional BI methods are often stuck in the past.?
Key points covered include:

3 年This is common for any use of cloud tech that technologists have been saying for a long time. Can you move you're current approaches to the cloud, tech included? If course you can, cloud vendors enabled that as an easy way to get customers on-board. Is it the best use of cloud tech, no, but it works and for many that's good enough. Most companies won't have the appetite to re-engineer solutions to use cloud native approaches because of prior investments. However they should develop a roadmap to get there, that's the key missing piece, the roadmap with investment backing.

3 年I think it's more about having the right breed of dog. You can't have a poodle doing the work of a sheep-dog because it's not built or bred for the task. ?? Trying to panel-beat a tool that has been architected for an on-platform data warehouse into one that is capable of harnessing the benefits of the cloud will most likely result in an unwieldy, somewhat cumbersome tool. Better to choose a tool that has been designed with the terrain and tasks in mind.
Great article
