The Business of Getting Big
Hyland Software and GOJO Industries are two very different companies. One is a Silicon Valley-style software company founded in the early 90’s; the other a global market leader in skin health and hygiene solutions best known as the inventor and manufacturer of PURELL? hand sanitizer.
But these two companies also have some important things in common. Both started out as small family operations and remain private companies today. Both have grown into global businesses that still manage to stay innovative. And of course, both were founded in Northeast Ohio and have chosen to stay and grow here.
There’s a lot entrepreneurs and small business owners could learn from Hyland and GOJO. That’s why I’m so excited about the opportunity to speak with senior leaders from both companies on stage during our third annual Startup Scaleup event on August 15.
The session is called “The Business of Getting Big,” and we’ll be examining what it really takes to lead a company through the various stages of its growth cycle and keep things innovative at the same time.
It’s going to be a great session! But even if big business isn’t your style, don’t worry—this is just one of more than 35 different workshops, panel discussions and networking opportunities located all throughout the Gordon Square Arts District during Startup Scaleup, 2017.
This year we’ve even attracted a whole new group of current and former Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, investors and executives, who have taken notice of what’s going on in Northeast Ohio and want to get involved.
But at its heart, Startup Scaleup remains an event focused on serving and showcasing homegrown entrepreneurs and existing small business owners—who are looking to grow their companies, hire employees or simply stay relevant in a changing economy. That’s the “scaleup” part of Startup Scaleup, and this year we have a whole variety of sessions geared specifically for this audience.
