Key Insights for Business Leaders on the EU's AI Act
The EU AI Act, which came into force in March 2024, is a big deal in AI regulation. It's the first time a standardized legal framework for AI has been introduced across Europe.
It'll be fully enforced in the next 24 months, though some provisions might come into effect sooner. This Act is the first of its kind worldwide to regulate AI development, deployment, and usage across industries. It is unique because it uses a risk-based approach to assess AI systems based on how much they could affect safety and fundamental rights. The compliance requirements change depending on the level of risk. With this new legislation, businesses need to start getting ready to ensure they meet the relevant requirements based on the dangers posed by their AI systems.
