New case study - Alice's dilemma: Can HFS's blockchain project cross the road to success?

Dr Aniekan Essien has published a new case study with The Case Centre titled "Alice's Dilemma: Can HFS's Blockchain Project Cross the Road to Success?", examining the implementation challenges and outcomes of using blockchain to enhance food safety through increased transparency and traceability.

The case provides critical insights into the integration of cutting-edge technologies within public sector frameworks, highlighting the importance of leadership and adaptive strategies in overcoming challenges.

Bristol Hub for Gambling Harms Research - October colloquium

We’re delighted to announce the Bristol Hub for Gambling Harms Research Colloquium was successfully held on 10th October.

Co-directed by Professor Agnes Nairn , with Dr Dr Raffaello Rossi as Communications Lead, the Hub strives to foster collaboration across a global network and advance research in the field of gambling harms. By raising awareness of these harms and funding global research initiatives, the Hub supports and empowers experts to tackle these critical issues head-on.

Material expertise: The case of the craft entrepreneur Lucie Rie - new paper published in the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal

Professor Robin Holt's co-authored paper with Associate Professor René Wiedner , "Material expertise: The case of the craft entrepreneur Lucie Rie" has been e-published ahead of print in the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal.

"By following the historical case of the world-renowned potter Luce Rie, we study the relationships between the accrual of material expertise, entrepreneurial actions, and successful craft venture outcomes."

Reuters "fact-checking unit" debunks online claims that the new Labour government crashed the economy on 5th July 2024

The news agency Reuters has a "fact-checking" unit that analyses and reports on potentially misleading claims posted on social networks.

In July, Dr Sylvain Friederich , Senior Lecturer in Finance, was interviewed by Reuters where he discussed claims around Labour's victory in the General Election. In this, Dr Friederich explained why fluctuations of London's FTSE 100 stock index the day following the election did not in fact indicate a crash as claimed on social media, and what the likely reasons for these fluctuations instead were on 5th July 2024.
