Is that Business Collaboration Project Not Working Out Like You Hoped? There's Still a Way to Save It

Business-to-business projects can lead to influential success for both parties. However, that is only the case when the project is managed and completed properly. When it is not, the project might lead to some losses for both companies.?

Thankfully, if things start to look south, you don't have to pack up and take the loss immediately. There are still ways to save it!

Regroup and Recenter?

If you are seeing red flags within the project, it is likely that the other business is as well. It is time to regroup and recenter. Take the time to pause the project and come together to talk about the project as a whole. This is your opportunity to discuss progress, challenges, goals, and overall tasks on both sides. During this meeting, you might find that the goals and values of the project started to slip or that you two lost the vision. So, you must recenter. Utilize this chance to get each business back on the same page and working toward the same end goal. This recentering can make a world of difference.?

Assign Appropriate Points of Contact?

One of the most aggravating aspects of working with another company is when you cannot get a hold of them if you have questions or concerns. When communication is not there, the project will inevitably go downhill. If you want to jumpstart the project and get it back on track, reassign the points of contact within it. You could find that those contact points before were not the ideal choice. It could simply take changing the contact person to get the project back on the road to success.?

Don't Be Afraid to Over Communicate?

This project is not the only thing your business and the partnering business have on its plate. It can be easy to feel as if any communication is too much communication, but that is definitely not the case. Don't be afraid to over communicate. If you have questions, ask them. It is much better to ask before you end up doing something that could hold the project back. Additionally, having a paper trail of communication throughout the project can help those within it look back and have details they might not have otherwise.?

Have Meetings – Often?

Once you start a project with another business, you should not shake hands and only see them again once it is done. It is wise to have meetings with each other often so you two can keep each other informed, accountable, and knowledgeable about the inner workings of the tasks. If you want to have a successful inter-business project, you need to schedule frequent meetings so neither side is left with unanswered questions. This is especially important if the project has gone south recently.

Look for Third-Party Guidance?

Lastly, if the project between your business and another business simply isn't going how you planned and nothing seems to be working, it could be time to call reinforcements. The last thing you want to do is lose money and time on the project, so finding professionals who are able to come in as an unbiased third-party to help work out the kinks, get the two businesses talking again, and jumpstart productivity can be exactly what you need. That is exactly what Sly James and I can do for your inter-business project!?
