Back-to-back networking meetings. Discovery calls. Free consultation. Wasting time on the wrong people...
The above describes the diary of many business coaches. And believe me, I have had a fair share of those in my career as a sales funnel designer. All that time spent on the wrong things with little or no return.
In this post, I will cover some of the best marketing automation methods that will help you generate qualified leads as a business coach or consultant on autopilot.
The Simple Recipe
To cook up something great, you will need the perfect recipe. If you don't have the ingredients, you will not end up with a delicious meal. So here they come:
Strong Social Profiles
Most people (well, me for starters) check all the social media accounts of the person they are thinking about engaging with. So, if you haven't posted for a long time, or the only like you get is your spouse or mother, you will have to work on it.
The good news is that you can batch create content on your social media and schedule them, so you can simply "set and forget". However, don't forget that the posts have to be valuable and automation will not replace manual interaction.
Social Proof
The next step is to build your reputation as an expert. There are plenty of people bragging about how good they are, and potential clients got much wiser since the birth of the Internet. You will have to make sure you have genuine reviews, feedback, ratings, and even LinkedIn recommendations. The more motivated your prospects are the more they will do their research about you. don't disappoint them.
Loads of Content
Of course, your job as a coach is to provide loads of value. the more value you provide for free to your audience the more likely they will feel compelled to trust you. This is something I usually call: building reciprocity. So, if you are looking to build a winning funnel for your coaching business, you will need to be comfortable with creating content. It can be video, articles, or guides. But it has to provide immense value.
Autoresponder
No matter how fast you type, there will be a point when you cannot follow up with every prospect manually. That's what they created an autoresponder for. No matter which one you choose, but it will need to stay in touch with your followers and prospects on your behalf, dependent on where they are on their buyer's journey.
We are biased towards ActiveCampaign, as we have used them for years and are also ActiveCampaign implementation partners. But a free solution might work, too.
Marketing Automation Solution
Apart from emails, you might want to automate other tasks, too. For example, if you want to run a retargeting campaign, you will need a solution for that. If you want to get people to book meetings, you will need an appointment scheduler and a meeting room on Zoom or any other platform. If you would like to save time on posting on social media, you can automate that, too.
And - of course- you will need automation solutions that will power your funnel! No matter if you go with custom built, ClickFunnels, Groove, or any other platform; it has to be in place before you get started.
All the above ingredients are designed to increase your conversion rate (help the dough rise). So, once you have them, you can start preparing the campaign.
Preparation
By far, this is probably the most important ingredient. You can only improve what you measure, so you will have to create goals (or ideal outcomes) to work towards. Work out the conversion rates on each stage, set a figure as a revenue target, or write down how many new coaching clients you would like.
Cooking: Best Marketing Funnels for Coaches
Now that you have all the ingredients, you will have to start building the funnel itself. The three most powerful funnels for business coaches are the eBook funnel, the webinar funnel, the quiz funnel, and the free course funnel. You can read more about how to create them below.
eBook Funnel
In this funnel, you will have to create an eBook and either sell it for a nominal price or give it away. Once people have submitted their details, they will be on your autoresponder and they will be presented with a "Thank You" page. So you can follow up with them, get them to book a free session, or even buy something on the spot. You can read more about eBook funnels on our blog.
Free Course Funnel
The free course funnel is great if you already have a lot of content out there and you just would like to build a relationship with your audience before you ask them to buy.
You can create a free course on any platform; it can be your own site using a WordPress plugin or on a third party site. The idea is that you will collect information from their behaviour and segment the list on your autoresponder. Once people feel like they got something valuable for free, they will be more "in the mood" to buy.
Webinar Funnel
If you are comfortable with public speaking and networking, you can create your own webinar, too. There are loads of webinar software out there you can use, and even funnel building software that do evergreen webinars. This means that you will upload the recorded session and play it for prospects 1-8 hours after they sign up. This way, you will not have to take time off regularly from your busy schedule. Webinar funnels can be automated.
Quiz Funnel
I left our favourite lead generation method for last. Quiz funnels don't require a lot of content and they can qualify your leads for you. We have partnered up with Typeform two years ago to implement these simple forms in our business, and they carry on providing us with qualified leads. Of course, you might get the odd one, but we can filter them out just by looking at their answers. You can visit our blog to read our full guide on building a winning quiz funnel.
Choose one of the funnels and keep on improving it. You will soon be on the road to success. Any of them can put you on the map as an expert.
Have you implemented any of the above coaching funnels? Was it a success? Let us know below.
