I am a reformed Fortune 10 Director and now CEO of my own company, who opened her eyes to the issues and what has lead us to this point in history. I helped cause income inequality by finding efficiencies and working for a company who surplused employees every year I worked there and acted like this was normal. Jobs that made over $60K a year (2000) now make around $30K (2018). Employees are being expected to handle multiple people’s jobs and when they cannot they are labeled as incompetent.
I remember the day I took on 2 jobs, then 3 jobs, then 4 peoples jobs at an introductory management level to not get paid overtime and being told by Human Resources that this was ok. Then I took on 2 and then 3 peoples jobs at the next higher management level. Then I took on 2 peoples job at the Director level. This is how employees are being treated in all levels of jobs. We keep adding responsibilities but not thinking or caring about the overall effect of this to the employee because of greed and making more money. Why have we allowed this type of behavior to become normalized? Over my career, I have seen the worst of greed in corporate America. This the United States we have created by allowing greed, fear and hatred to run our county. Isn’t it time we stop this madness?
