Business Behind the Curtain

Business Behind the Curtain

Business Behind the Curtain is less pretty than the post you see on social media. It is pretty messy some days.

Behind the curtain of a network marketing business lies a complex system of sales, management, and customer service. Typically a commission-based compensation plan, talking to new customers, and connecting with new conversations—normal business stuff.?

Today it didn't look like any of that.?

My husband and I let our big 125lb shepherd cross over the rainbow bridge. I held his big ole head until it was over. He closed his eyes in peace. No pain.

I cried snot-bubble tears.?

My heart hurts.

I missed him instantly.

I am crying now as I type.

We thanked him for loving us for ten years and allowing us to love him back.

We are not sure what happened; yesterday, he lost the ability to walk, stopped eating, and barely drank anything for 24 hours. Something was going on inside. We could not fix what was broken.?

I have a headache.

I have cried until my eyes are swollen.

The farm has an empty space that his big snack-loving soul filled.

Today I didn't work.?

I sat in my grief and allowed the business to run itself.?

I welcome two new customers that came in sometime today in the middle of the mess.

I played Spotify loudly -?

I listened to Shivers by Ed Sheeran in my queue, Bones by Imagine Dragons, Unstoppable by Sia, Hooch Drew Green, Toosie Slide

I was distracted.

I did busy stuff. I vacuumed the house, danced in my car - danced in the kitchen, cleaned my car even though it was going to rain for the next four days, and blew the leaves out of the garage and off the deck. We took the inside dogs for a walk with Duke's paw prints the vet gave us in my pocket.

My inside dogs are sad.?

They know he was not here, and they both stopped to wait for him to come out of the garage when we took our walk.

When we left the veterinary, they handed me the bill for his cremation and vet visit. I gave her my card and paid in full without asking beforehand what it would cost.?

I paused and smiled.

It cost the amount I needed when I started the business as a single mom who needed extra cash in the bank without working overtime at my nursing job.

Funny how things like that stick out in your mind. Duke was worth every penny.

When my oldest son comes home next month, we will release Duke's ashes out in the hay field where he loved to run.

This, my friend, is what business looks like behind the curtain.?

Somedays it isn't lovely. Some Days are a mess and distracted.?Business continued with the systems in place to work.?

The systems give me time to heal, cry and just be.?

Thank you for being here.

So sorry for your loss…. Your tribute to Duke was beautiful and I loved how you put his paw print in your pocket when u went for a walk …. I would have done that too..! All the best to you … thinking of you during this difficult time
