I got it wrong.

Back in 2016 I started working with accountants and bookkeepers helping them with marketing to get clients. The work we did looked successful on the outside.

They got an increase in clients, increase in revenue…

Here was the kicker.

The revenue increase meant they worked MORE in the business as we had got loads more clients for them.

So we had to focus on hiring more team and systemization. We created what I now call Monster Businesses.

Lots of clients, little to no profit, constantly having to hire more people to do the work they had won, and still taking home very little pay as the business owner.

In 2021 I realised what I had done. I had helped my clients get more of what they thought they wanted. Rather than give them what they really wanted.

They thought they wanted more clients. But what they really wanted was fewer clients and higher revenue.

They wanted a Freedom Practice.

So I got to work and created something called Leveraged Advisory. Which was all about switching from a compliance-based firm to a leveraged advisory-based offering.

Now this can be done in one of two ways.

1) You add a leveraged advisory offering to your current business.

2) You grow an advisory practice and keep it as a separate entity from your current business.

Almost 2 years later I have had clients add 500k in extra revenue, but most importantly increase their take-home pay to 200k a year. All whilst delivering in as little as 10 hours a week. I now call this the 500:200 Model.

This new model is pretty cool. Many people think they want to grow a million-dollar practice so they can sell it one day. However, this thinking is wrong. It means payday is at least 10-30 years off.

What people really want is time to spend with their family, go on nice holidays, pay off their mortgage, buy THE watch, THE car, and stuff for their hobbies NOW. They don’t want to wait for the money in retirement.

Which is why the 500:200 Model is so powerful.

It gives you good revenue in your practice. But most importantly large profit margins that give you 200k a year take-home pay. So you can buy stuff, or invest.

Pretty cool eh.
