The SP4-C traffic signal card directly replaces the existing detector card within the traffic signals controller, but provides greater functionality as well as been able to hold up to 50 Million vehicle records and can be used to replace Automatic Traffic Counters. The SP4-C over the last few years been included in several large framework contracts and ITT frameworks. The Card can operate off most Traffic Light MOVA/SCOOT/Speed loops. It will work with existing SCOOT loops, allowing up to 4 loops to monitored over 4 lanes.

We have been working recently with Worcestershire County Council on the provision of a bus priority scheme to provide bus priority over a single-track bridge with restricted use to Buses and authorised vehicles on a shuttle system. The installation utilises 2 of our SP4-C traffic signals card with an upgraded firmware and cabling to collect and store addition outputs from the controller on the activation / deactivation of the green phase. The site installation provided a dual loop to provide great accuracy for the detection of buses and included our telemetry option to enable the provision of the monitoring data to the county council. The route is covered by 2 red-light cameras, these have not been operational for some time due to a lack of police resources

The site is located east of the Village of Wyre Piddle, which is between Worcester and Evesham just off the A44. Data The data table below is an extract taken directly from the SP4-C card on one of the approaches, each event is time stamped and each vehicle detected is provided a ref no, 00000045 is detected in lane 1 and its length is 1263cm, its speed when detected was 23mph and from its profile signature it is identified as a bus (class 6). The next event is the green light being turned on to give priority to the bus, and 10 seconds later the green light is turned off. Those vehicles with a vehicle class 2 (Car or light van) are not provided a green light and pass through the signals on red (Red Light Running), some of which are travelling 40mph plus
