Burnt Out? It's Time to Wake Up: 9 Habits That Will Raise Your Frequency and Connect You With Your Inner Guidance

You've probably started to recognize that something's not right in your current reality. Maybe you're burnt out, you're living for the weekend, and coping with the "Sunday scaries" have become routine. You catch yourself wondering if there's more to life than this, wishing that someone with a solution will come save you. I hate to break it to you, but you're going to have to save yourself. The good news is, you're not alone. There is already a version of you who knows what you need to do and is waiting patiently for you to listen to their message, you just need to raise your frequency enough so that you can hear it.

Integrating Work and Spirituality

I can hear the 2018 version of myself urging me to think twice about publishing this article - "Marissa, what are you doing. This is LinkedIn, no one talks about spirituality here".?She was still in the broom closet, so to speak, tucking her crystals and tarot cards away in her bag and taking a "mental health day" so that she could stay up late journaling and meditating during a particularly potent full moon.

However, the time has come for me to stop hoarding the wisdom I've been collecting and finally begin to share it with all of you, trusting it will resonate with those who are ready to hear it and maybe plant a small seed of curiosity for those who are not. My spiritual awakening had, and continues to have, a profound impact on both my life and my career, and I am now on a mission to help those who are still silently suffering, feeling lost, disconnected and trapped by other people's expectations like I was for so many years.

Learning the truth about who I really was fundamentally shifted the way I perceived myself as well as my connection to the people and the world around me. Gaining clarity of my purpose helped me develop the confidence to go after what I want, set healthy boundaries, and transcend crippling perfectionism. Accessing my inner guidance has allowed me to navigate decision making with clarity and ease, knowing that I am making the right choice before I even have the logic to back it up. And it goes without saying, but all of those things made me a profoundly better leader.

I now experience synchronicities every day - from things as mundane as meetings I didn't feel like attending getting rescheduled at the last minute, to as significant as the perfect opportunity for a new position falling into my lap just days after setting the intention for what I wanted to do. I'm here not only to tell you that magic is real, but to show you how to use it to transform your work, amplify your impact and create a life that brings you boundless success, fulfillment and joy. The very first step is learning how to hear your intuition.

Connection Between Frequency and Intuition

If this is already seems a little too "woo" for you, let me break it down. Everything is energy. When you hear people talking about "vibes", they're referring to the frequency at which that energy is vibrating. Things like hate and fear vibrate at a low frequency, whereas joy and love vibrate high. You don't have to be an empath to have experienced the energy in a room shift based on the people there, the topics of conversation or the emotions that are being triggered. High vibration feels good, low vibration feels bad.

Raising your frequency connects you with your intuition because energetically, like attracts like - high vibration attracts high vibration, and that's where your intuition is operating. If we get stuck in low vibration, it's like trying to hear a pin drop in the middle of a bustling city. Raising your frequency turns the volume of the low vibe stuff down, while turning the volume of the high vibe stuff up. If you still need proof of concept, take a leap of faith and try out some of the activities below and pay attention to what happens. Even if it has zero impact on strengthening your inner guidance, at the very least they will help you cultivate a little more peace and joy into your daily life.

9 High-Vibe Activities

When you're ready to start listening to what your higher self has to say, begin incorporating any or all of these things below into your routine:

  1. Think of six impossible things before breakfast. Or in other words, spend time in your imagination. It's a gift. It's also a way to receive guidance. Have you ever had a wild thought pop into your head seemingly out of nowhere? That's a message. Roll with it, have fun with it, see where it leads you.
  2. Take care of your body, it is your energy system. Don't drink so much alcohol, stop smoking, skip the sugar in your coffee, eat organic and local as often as possible. (Note: intuitive eating was the first step in my spiritual journey.)
  3. Pray to whoever or whatever you want to pray to. To God, to Spirit, to Mother Earth, to yourself - prayer is a powerful way of setting intention and sending out high vibrational energy. Look up studies that have been done on the power of prayer - it is absolutely fascinating.
  4. Buy some mala beads and try mantra meditation. This helps especially for people who have struggled with meditation because they have difficulty clearing their mind. Mantra meditation has you focus on a repeating phrase - you'll be amazed at some of the messages that come through from your subconscious when your conscious mind is focused.
  5. Dance. Whether it be around a drum circle, in a Zumba class, or by yourself before anyone else wakes up in the morning, move your body in a way that feels good. And don't forget to smile.
  6. Go outside. Trees, flowers, rivers, lakes, mountains all naturally carry a higher frequency. We are a product of our environment. Nature has already done the work, you just have to spend time with it.
  7. Listen to classical or spiritual music like Solfeggio frequencies, even just for 30 minutes a day.
  8. Have fun for the sake of having fun. Make art, play, create time for the things that bring you joy and take you out of productivity-mode. In modern astrology the Sun, which points to your life's purpose and highest expression, embodies an archetype that is all about fun and creativity. In short, the more you pursue what brings you joy, the closer you align with your life's purpose.
  9. Create an environment that feels sacred to you. Light candles, burn incense or diffuse essential oils. (If you try smudging, make sure you purchase herbs that are ethically sourced.)

And there you have it, 9 very simple, human things you can do that will begin to benefit you (and the people around you) almost immediately, regardless of whether or not you want to embark on a deeper spiritual quest. As you consciously integrate these activities into your routine, remain aware. Notice what you notice. Patterns are messages - if you think something is a sign, it is. Trust it, and you'll learn how to trust yourself. That's where the real magic happens.
