According to Forbes, new research from Moodle (conducted by the research consultants at Censuswide) shows that 66% of American employees are experiencing some sort of burnout in 2025.
The American Psychological Association (APA) states that work-related stress does not just disappear when you head home for the day. When stress persists, it can take a toll on your health and well-being.

In accounting and finance, we have been able to gear up for the typical stressful times in our roles. We know extra time and effort must be given at month-end, monthly forecasts, quarter-end, year-end, annual budgeting, and during audits. It always feels excellent to get through the final financial statements or audit reports.?
The challenge is that the intense focus for this financial reporting does not end between cycles like it used to. We now must provide financial information in real time to meet the business demands. The ongoing pressure does not give us a chance to reset. Our minds and bodies need time for recovery. The deprivation of that recovery causes burnout!

Start with creating boundaries between work and home. In addition, finding ways to manage expectations in your workplace can help keep you from feeling overextended.

Surround Yourself with Positivity
A support network of coworkers can help to extinguish burnout. Be sure to gravitate away from “misery loves company” individuals and seek out positive co-workers.
Consider the Bigger Picture
When your day is chock-full of difficult conversations, workplace politics, and mindless minutia, you can lose track of what inspired you to embark on your chosen career path. Reminding yourself of the bigger-picture good that you’re doing in your job can help keep job burnout at bay.
Practice Self-Care
Your work does not define you. And having interests, hobbies and relationships that have nothing to do with your job can help.
Enlist Help
If you find yourself becoming overly negative and cynical at work, or if those feelings are affecting your life outside of work, talking to a mental health professional may help you course correct.
Taking one small step every day to get away from burnout is the key. Imagine how much better things can be in 6 months or a year.
