Is It Burnout Or A Midlife Crisis?

Is It Burnout Or A Midlife Crisis?

7 simple, sexy tips for the high-achieving woman to find her happy place before it’s too late.

?Burnout is a serious problem for high-achieving women today.? According to a survey conducted by LeanIn.Org and McKinsey & Company in their annual "Women in the Workplace" report, senior-level women (often high earners) are more likely than their male counterparts to experience burnout. The 2021 report indicated that 50% of senior-level women were experiencing burnout compared to 39% of men at the same level.

?Women in leadership positions today, (including entrepreneurs or business owners) are the first generation to get “permission” to have it all.? Growing up, they were told they could do, have, and be anything they wanted.? So day after day, they don their superhero cape, get shot from a cannon, run like crazy on the hamster wheel, and lather, rinse, and repeat.? Is it any wonder burnout and overwhelm prevail?? Well, ladies, it doesn’t have to be that way.? If you are someone who spent the last 20-plus years climbing the ladder to success, and now you think your ladder leans against the wrong wall, I’m here to help you.

Here are 7 simple, sexy tips for high-achieving women to eliminate burnout while creating “True Wealth” – the things money can’t buy – joy, purpose, and balance.? This advice can apply to business owners with employees, solopreneurs, or corporate executives.

  • Learn to delegate!? Just because you were told you can have it all doesn’t mean you have to do it all yourself!?
  • Delegate tasks that take you away from your zone of genius, or conflict with why you started your company (if you’re the business owner).? This may take a little soul-searching to figure out what to take off your plate.? Be patient and persistent, or ask for help.
  • If you are a solopreneur, consider hiring a Virtual Assistant.? Get referrals from colleagues for the tasks that are unrelated to your core business.? It may seem easier said than done.? Try to keep “penny wise and dollar foolish” in mind.? If you’re doing all the non-revenue producing tasks, it’s taking you away from what fuels the business – sales.? What your losing in revenue is probably more costly than getting quality help.
  • Step away from your desk.? Set an alarm to stand up and stretch, or go for a walk periodically throughout the day. Taking mental health moments will re-energize you, making you more productive and focused, getting more done in less time.
  • Utilize a simple time-management system.? Put guardrails around your workday by blocking out non-working hours and stick to your schedule.
  • Take time off!? It’s essential that you step away from work periodically.? Schedule vacations or personal time in your calendar and keep your commitment.?
  • Unplug when out of the office for personal time.? Make it a policy that employees refrain from answering emails, texts, and calls when out of the office for personal reasons. Feeling tethered to the office is one of the main causes of burnout. Remember, prioritizing your health and well-being is essential to maintain your success level while eliminating burnout and overwhelm.

And finally, if this feels like a lot, it probably is.? If you can't see the forest for the trees, hire a Business or Success Coach to help you and your employees. The coach can identify tweaks that might be hard for you to see, transforming your results exponentially, saving you time and energy.? This will free you up to be more present for your loved ones when out of the office, and more productive and focused when working.? By implementing these tips and nurturing yourself along your high-achieving journey, you’re empowering yourself toward a life and career you love.? Remember, live your life by design, not by default.? You’ve got this!
