Burnout is Not a Badge of Honor

Burnout is Not a Badge of Honor

To every physician reading this: You are extraordinary.

You dedicate your life to helping others, yet so often, your own well-being takes a backseat. Burnout in medicine is not just a buzzword—it’s a quiet crisis impacting patient care, professional satisfaction, and personal health.

Did you know that studies estimate burnout rates for physicians range between 40% and 75%, depending on the specialty? For OBGYNs, the numbers are even more alarming. Long hours, electronic medical records, patient load, and the unrelenting demands of healthcare all contribute to emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and a diminished sense of personal accomplishment.

Here’s the truth: You deserve support.

As someone who works closely with OBGYNs and subspecialists across the country, I’ve had the privilege of hearing your stories—the highs, the lows, and the dreams still waiting to be fulfilled. My goal has always been to go beyond the job itself, offering solutions that address not just your career goals but also your well-being.

Support can look different for everyone.

For some, it’s regaining control over their schedules or finding positions that align with their values. For others, it’s access to resources that help reduce stress and avoid burnout. The key is identifying what matters most to you and taking steps to protect your well-being—not just for your patients, but for yourself.

Caring for others should never mean sacrificing yourself. The time to prioritize your health and happiness is now.
