# Scarce and Critical Skills # FutureSmart Mining #Real Mining. Real People. Real Difference
Dear Marlini Mining & mineral processing technologies are developing to further improve typical mining KPIs such as safety, production, efficiencies and budgets control. I am confident that Anglo American has measures in place to address these issues in line with the group's growth strategy for the various business units. In terms of talent development to meet future skills demand in digital mining, simulation and continuous innovation, what plan does Anglo American have in place? Perhaps up-skilling the current workforce OR development of new talent OR maybe further developing talent that have the basics of these future demands OR collaboration with academic and professional development institutions to share with them your opinions of the future in mining?? I came through the ranks at Anglo American, learned so much from the organisation and developed skills that enabled me to make significant contributions in the minerals industry global village. However, I feel that there is a gap in terms of the current skills that most of my colleagues have and the future skills demand that we should start developing now.? Hope to hear from you soon. Many thanks & regards, Oliver
