“Burn your wish list. I want to see your commitment list. I want to know what you are committed to doing with your 24 hours a day to close the gap between where you are and where you want to be. What are you willing to sacrifice inside of your 86,400 seconds every day to become the person you want to be?
-- Joshua Medcalf and Jamie Gilbert “Burn Your Goals”
We all want to accomplish certain things -- to get in better shape, be better at our jobs, be better spouses, make more money, etc.
We love to come up with a wish list or a list of goals.
And all of that is great, but we would be better served if we instead focused on what we are committed to doing to get there (the process).
What are you willing to do each day to get to where it is you say you want to go? What are you willing to sacrifice?
Because if you’re not willing to do what it takes to reach a goal, then you can save yourself a lot of time and effort by letting that goal go.
When you walk into a store everything has a price attached to it. If you want to take that item home, you agree to pay that price. A goal is no different.
Today, look at your goals and figure out what it will take to reach them (the process). Then get clear with yourself whether you’re willing to commit to them. If you're not, then let that goal go.
