This is a good article that is a quick read on the advantages to actually being kind as a LEADER in the workplace. 

The old vision many of us came up with, of the iron-fisted leader that rules by his shear will and determination, is a myth. Your people are just that… PEOPLE. 

We should always strive to treat people with respect and dignity. At the same time, we should push for performance and accountability. Kind doesn’t mean soft. We can demand a lot, then treat them better than they expect at the same time. That is the key to pushing performance to the next level. 

 So, go love on your team, then push them towards the goal, then reward them, and love on them again when they make it!
