According to Recycle Across America, recycling your boxes and other plastic-free cardboard items only takes 75% of the energy needed to make new cardboard, and recycling one ton of cardboard saves 46 gallons of oil.?

• Generally,?cardboard items?like food boxes (think cereal, crackers, cookies, and frozen food boxes), shipping boxes, moving boxes, and milk and juice cartons can be recycled.?
• Not all cardboard containers and boxes are made equally. Cardboard boxes with plastic film or windows need to be removed before being recycled.???
• Make sure your cardboard boxes are?empty?of any non-carboard materials (like plastic film or packaging materials), clean of any food or beverage residue, and dry. ????
• Remember to remove any packaging labels (for privacy) and any plastic tape on the outside of the box.?????
• Be a recycling pro by breaking down or flattening the boxes before tossing them into your recycling bin. This helps save space in your container and makes processing your packages at the recycling center easier.? ????
• Don’t ignore that?greasy pizza boxes?don’t belong in your recycling bin. ??
