I have been observing comments about the death of Our Mother of The Nation , Nomzamo Winnie Madikizela Mandela . People persecuting her , and what was worrying was those were the beneficiaries of the very draconian system of Apartheid which she fought everyday relentlessly until her last breath .
These are the very people who's foundation of wealth and prestige was founded on that system and yet today they have the audacity to point fingers at her. She stood firm and lead a revolution when others were in jails , exiles etc . She carried the burden of an oppressed people in her conscience and in everything she did.
The South African Capital was build on the back of an oppressed people , and we should not hide away from that fact . So I am now asking and want us to contemplate the Burden of Leadership , here are questions I want each and every Leader within the greater South African business milleau to ask themselves :
Do I embrace a truth that seeks to redress the imbalances of the past , what is my emotional and moral burden I am are carrying which I am honestly trying hard to deal with in transforming this nation?
The Business you I , does it truly believe and advocate transformation , not as a legal obligation but as a humanitarian quest ?
Does My business treat its employees especially those from the poor of the poorest with respect and dignity , do I offer opportunities of personal and professional growth?
Is the culture I am building in my organisation fighting patriarchy and all its symbolism ?
What is My stance in advancing young black entrepreneurs in assisting them to access the 1st economy ?
I believe that no matter how small or large your business is , when you are truly burdened by what is happening in the country when you know that transformation is not a compliance issue but a true redress of the past and allowing people to advance in places and spaces they were systematically excluded ... then I believe that your should as Winnie Mandela did , carry the pain of the people in your heart and wake up everyday fighting to ensure that this abnormality is dealt a blow and that we build an amazing country.
I hope and trust as a people we will all be burdened by the suffering of our fellow country men and ensure that ... Never again will our country be divided ...
