The Burden of Aspirations and a Breath of Gratitude
We all want to BECOME someone, someday and we always trying to figure ways to get there! We carry our goals and aspirations throughout this journey. We want not only to achieve them, but also to do it in the least amount of time possible.
Most of us will say – “I don’t compare myself to anyone. I try to be the best version of myself” Apparently, competition is deeply rooted within us. That’s not bad; in fact, it is a powerful instinctual drive in human nature. We compete for resources, living standards and status. We compete against each other, we compete against ourselves, and we compete as groups.
In the pursuit of our goals and dreams, we share our aspirations with people that we have a close relationship with. It can be friends from School, Colleagues at work or Family members.
We are the generation that looks up to our peers and draws inspirations.
Our lives we are meant to go in different directions in the world – and that’s the beauty of life. In the journey, some of our peers end up becoming Doctors, Engineers, Pilots, Lawyers…. some are married, some have given birth, some are still searching and waiting. Some are running their higher degrees… some haven't even gained their entry to the corporate world and may NEVER be able to. Some own companies… some just got promoted to leadership positions.
How do you feel when you meet your peers who seem living their dreams life or landed into their dream job and you're not yet close to any? So many thoughts run through your mind, right? First, you think Life is not fair to you.
But, think again!
How about the ones you meet still walking with their brown envelopes, jumping from one hustle to another and still waiting for their moment? Do you get the same thoughts running through your mind?
I guess, NO.
Somehow it’s natural to have that feeling towards those peers who seem better off, but it is really unnecessary. We are all different and our paths to greatness are also not the same in distance.
Some might have arrived earlier before you and come after you, but whatever level you find yourself in life, please keep trying to break limitations, breath and appreciate what you have and move further. Celebrate the success of others, it’s an indication that yours too shall surely come.
Your friend buys a car now, be happy with him/ her. Remember when you'll buy yours, theirs might not be the latest again. There's no permanent champion, but a current champion.
Life is not all about competition neither a straight line, It’s the journey towards becoming that person, and that is what should excite you the most. Do not be in a race with anyone; remember, we may seem to be reading the same book but different chapters at different times.
Don't let the passion in you kill the desire in you, keep it burning.
What you're passing through today; Write it down because one day the world would be ready to read it, they'll become part of your success story. There's no height you cannot attain, believe in yourself, define your goals, recognise distractions and don't stop striving.
Spend time teaching yourself, because those things that mainly take people to the top are the things they devoted their time to develop. Don't be intimidated by your friend's success, the sky is wide enough for birds to fly without touching one another.
You don’t have that Job yet; you don’t drive that car yet …It’s all Okay! Just Breath and appreciate what you have now. You will BE…You will BECOME.
Value every little thing that God brings into our life, for with him, all things are possible. Because, BECOMING is not all about arriving somewhere, or achieving a certain aim, it is a forward motion...a means of evolving a way to reach continuously towards a better self.
