The legend of Prahlad and Hiranyakashyap is a popular Hindu mythological story that is narrated in various Hindu scriptures and is often used to teach moral lessons.

According to the legend, Hiranyakashyap was a demon king who was granted a boon by Lord Brahma that made him virtually invincible. With this newfound power, Hiranyakashyap declared himself as the supreme ruler of the universe and demanded that everyone worship him instead of the Hindu gods.

However, Hiranyakashyap's own son, Prahlad, refused to worship his father and instead continued to worship Lord Vishnu, one of the Hindu gods. This infuriated Hiranyakashyap, who tried to kill Prahlad multiple times, but Lord Vishnu always saved him from harm.

Finally, Hiranyakashyap challenged Prahlad to prove the existence of Lord Vishnu, and Prahlad replied that he could feel Lord Vishnu's presence everywhere and that faith in him was the only way to achieve salvation.

Holika was the sister of the demon king Hiranyakashyap, who had received a boon from Lord Brahma that he could not be killed by any human, god, or animal. Hiranyakashyap was very arrogant and demanded that everyone worship him instead of the gods. However, his own son Prahlad remained devoted to Lord Vishnu, much to the anger of Hiranyakashyap.

Hiranyakashyap decided to get rid of Prahlad and sought the help of Holika, who had been blessed with immunity to fire. Hiranyakashyap instructed Holika to take Prahlad in her lap and sit in a bonfire, confident that Prahlad would be burned alive while Holika would remain unscathed.

However, Lord Vishnu intervened and saved Prahlad while Holika burned to death in the fire. This was seen as a victory of good over evil, and the festival of Holi is celebrated to mark this event.

During Holi, people light bonfires to symbolize the burning of Holika and the triumph of good over evil. They also throw colorful powders and water on each other to celebrate the joyous occasion. The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and is a time for people to come together and have fun.

Enraged by his son's defiance, Hiranyakashyap tried to kill Prahlad once again, but Lord Vishnu appeared in the form of Narasimha, a half-man, half-lion creature, and killed Hiranyakashyap.

The legend of Prahlad and Hiranyakashyap is often used to teach moral lessons about the triumph of good over evil, the importance of faith and devotion, and the consequences of ego and arrogance. It is also a popular tale during the Hindu festival of Holi. 

The wish granted by Lord brahma to Hiranyakashyap was as follows no one animal or man, neither inside your house nor outside your house, neither on land, water or air and no weapon can ever bring death upon you. 

So Lord Vishnu took up the look of Narsimha Narsimha means half man half tiger to break the famous clause of his death no animal nor human so Lord Vishnu took up the look of Narsimha who was neither a man nor a animal, neither outside his house nor inside his house Narsimha picked Hiranyakashyap on his lap to break the popular clause of neither on land nor in the air he was on his lap standing on the treshhold of his kingdom so he was neither in his house nor outside his house, on his lap Lord Narsimha tore open his gut with his bare hands. To break the clause of no weapon no astra no shasta. Those days too Gods granted wishes very diplomatically must say. 

Story of Prahlad and Hiranyakashyap is the most inspiring story which teaches us that if you have a clear conscience and a strong mind you can achieve whatever you want.
