Bundling Books: How to Choose Book to Read

Dear Readers,

Welcome back to "Musings of a Book Queen"! In this edition, you’ll learn how to bundle books. You’re choosing books to read based on bundles.

Introduction

Approach every book you want to read with focused and targeted questions. Use books to your advantage to achieve:

  1. Personal goals.
  2. Solve actual problems.
  3. Answer pressing questions.?

Questions can be specific to a book. What is more valuable is when questions address important challenges the reader is currently facing in life, career, family, and business. When you read nonfiction with focus and targeted questions, you’re an active reader.

If you want to master a topic, it’s important to read five of the best books on it. But how do you decide which five books to read? In the book, Turn the Page by Chris Brady, he introduces you to a concept called bundling books. You can use this technique to select which books to read.

Bundling Books

Bundle books to answer important questions and solve the big problems in your life. Study deeply into a single topic or area. There are three types of bundling.

3 Types of Ways to Bundle Books

  1. Author
  2. Topic
  3. Title

Without realizing there was a formal name, I have bundled books by author and by topic. I love Remington Kane and when I read the first Tanner book, I loved it so much that I continued to read them. I’ve read the 55 books in the series so far. And I’ve read all the books in some of his other series. In terms of nonfiction series, an example is The One Minute Manager series by Ken Blanchard.

The Sales Knowledge Accelerator is a prime example of bundling by topic. I read several books on sales.?

What I haven’t done is bundle by the variation of a title.?When you bundle books by title, you start with one book and start varying the title to find other books.

Example of bundling books by title:

  1. The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results by Gary Keller
  2. The One Thing You Need to Know: . . . About Great Managing, Great Leading, and Sustained Individual Success by Marcus Buckingham
  3. One Big Thing: Discovering What You Were Born to Do by Phil Cooke?
  4. Decide One Thing: The One Thing EVERY Executive Team Must Decide by Dave Ramos
