Bullfrog - The Lost Game!

Bullfrog - The Lost Game!

One of the most fun times of my life was an 8 month spell at Bullfrog Studios, before returning back to EA in the USA.

I often get asked about Bullfrog's famous lost game - Indestructibles. The game was originally planned as a console game and lead by Sean Cooper at Bullfrog. I had no involvement in that at all. What people don't often realise is that the game was resurrected in 1998 for the PC with an all star cast of developers, including Glenn Corpes of Populous fame and the incredibly talented Jan Svarovsky. I was asked to lead the game both creatively and technically in a senior producer role.

I have to say I had the time of my life, Who wouldnt want to make a super hero game. James Leach who became famous for his work on Fable at Lionhead was my designer for the project and worked on the creative design with me. What a complete genius!

It is the most fun that I have ever had in the genre. We had everything from bank heists, to super heroes flying off rooftops and smashing down walls. We only ever got to prototype stage on the PC, but it was all set to become a classic in the genre! It was THAT much fun!

It was also my last game ever to be credited as Andrew Whittaker, so a personal milestone.

The game didn't ship as Marvel contacted Bullfrog/EA to say they had copyright on pretty much every super hero design you could ever imagine!

I am so proud to have worked with such an incredible team. They really were the Incredibles!
