BUILDNG BLOCKS OF HYBRID OFFICE DESIGN
How to Furnish the new era of Hybrid Offices.
This past year has been monumental in marking a shift from conventional ways of working, and more and more to the ‘Hybrid’ way of working. 2021 has shown us that the ways in which employees leverage the workplace is becoming increasingly unpredictable, and so successful enterprises are making the move to a more flexible, fluid Hybrid way of working.
?2021 saw a complete shift in the way that employees work. The pandemic coupled with growing demands for flexible work, has totally upended the more traditional workplace design and further we see the move to a ‘Hybrid’ way of working, which is effecting nearly all companies not only on a National but a Global scale. As we see more people making their way back into the office, be it for a specific number of days (or even hours) in a week, what we are also seeing is the need for a change in the way in which the employees work, and hence the need to change the way and tools (furniture etc) in which they work. No longer will an employee be expected to be ‘chained to their desk!’
At Ergoform we believed it was important to recognize that this change in how employees influence the way in which the office is used is not simply a one-time shift. Hybrid work patterns will continue to change and evolve in new ways that we have to predict, hence it was really important to ensure that our new range of office furniture is (where possible) mobile, or even flexible in how it can morph, change and / or be used.
For instance, we are know seeing more and more the term “shybid’ (Do We Have to Return to Office? Why Company Hybrid Plans Are More 'Shybrid' - Bloomberg) which refers to the constant delay in the return to the office plans, it is clear that the ways in which we work will be constantly reimagined and reinvented. Moreover, as the office becomes more agile, employees will occupy space more passively.
In the next era of office design we have to be cognisant that employees are going to have a multitude of different needs which will steer away from traditional desking as the dominant space to work at. The hybrid future disentangles for a more fluid workplace that can flex as needs change. Not only does this accelerate innovation and advance the culture of the organisation, it can ensure real estate is always optimised. For example you could optimise your own space by designing an open area that supports hybrid meetings in the morning, becomes the café at lunch, hosts a town hall in the afternoon, and can be rented for an evening event.

At Ergoform we believe that as employees needs and expectations around the office continue to evolve, more pressure will be placed on ourselves by workplace leaders to assist in updating their office designs and layouts more frequently and efficiently, a lot of which can be achieved by using Ergoform’s fluid and agile range of Hybrid office furniture
Along with the uncertainty of possible new COVID variants, change is more likely to accelerate rather than slow down. Moving forward, it’s crucial that the office is agile and able to adapt to new employee behaviors and expectations, and working together with Ergoform and our new range will go that one step closer to achieving the perfect office design and layout!
