Building Your Google Business Profile
When you need somewhere to eat, you tend to go to Google Maps or Google and type in restaurants, and restaurants near you will show up. You can then click through all of their Google profiles to see which ones sound good and get good reviews.?
We often think that these profiles can only be made for businesses with an actual location and tangible product, but nope! You can build a Google Business Profile for your services company and tech company.?
Why have a Google Business Profile??
Considering 93% of people use Google as their primary search engine when someone searches for you, they are most likely going to encounter your business profile on the right side of their screen. It will look something like this:?
Pros of having a Google profile:?
- You can increase your visibility by showing up for keywords that are related to your business?
- You’re providing an advantage to potential customers by giving them easy access to things like your website, phone number, location, and reviews
- You can show off your social proof with ratings and reviews that clients/customers can leave on your profile?
- You can measure your performance by looking at website views from your profile, calls, clicks, and more
Building your Google Business Profile?
Personalize your information with pictures, offers, reviews, and more. In addition, you can also get insights into how customers find your business and what keywords they use to search for you. You can claim your profile from Search and Maps or download the Google My Business app to create and manage one from scratch.
Optimizing your profile?
Optimizing your profile is important in supporting SEO efforts and making sure you are reaching the right audience and decision makers. By taking the small amount of time it takes to build and optimize your profile, you look more professional and immediately instill a sense of trust and credibility with your leads. Here are some steps you should take to optimize your profile:?
- Research your competitors and see how they’re building their profiles – look at their reviews, links, and photos?
- Segment your audience by industry, location, size, and any other necessary parameters to target ads and your profile to the right people
- Measure your performance using profile visits, calls, website visits, etc.
Requesting Google Reviews (collecting social proof!)
Google makes it super easy to request reviews. If you’re a manager on your Google profile, scroll down to your profile and click the “Get Reviews†button. The following pop-up will allow you to copy the link and send it off to people.?
It will look something like this when the person clicks on the link.
Email copy for requesting a Google review
