Building peoples' LinkedIN profiles is something we are asked more and more of, because well let's face it, what other amazing FREE business networking platform is out there? Executives, and those in the know,? have found an ally with LinkedIn to shape their online presence and achieve success in business.? Leveraging LinkedIN though requires a thoughtful approach and although I hate the word brand as it makes me feel like we are cows, if I wrote Identity, people would think "online security" so with that,
Since I feel I am the Grandmother of LinkedIN, being on here since 2006 I felt compelled to write a guide to help executives...and everyone really.. navigate and succeed on LinkedIn.
1. Picking Your Narrative: Crafting a Compelling Story Who do you want the business world to see you as? How do you want to be conveyed on LinkedIN? Consider your professional journey, achievements, and values. Don't just share articles, showcase your style, your thoughts on industry trends, and express your lessons learned. Be genuine DO NOT cut and paste ChatGPT, everyone can tell and honestly, it's annoying as F! BE RELATABLE!!?
2. Writing Content that Resonates: Strategies for Impactful Communication Don't be scared. Create content that captures attention. It is crucial. Focus on providing value to your audience through industry updates you were a part of, add a personal experiences. Strive for authenticity, be you! No one needs another someone else...or someone like everyone else. Only if you are different, will you be different.
3. Consistent Quality Content: Establishing a Strong Presence Just like everything in life, consistency is key. You can't add content then disappear for a few months and wonder what is going on. I mean you can but what happened is you disappeared. You need to stay on the platform. If it helps develop a content calendar to ensure a steady stream of valuable posts. Think of it this way: Consistency builds credibility. And even if you only get one like there may be 200 views. You don't need thousands upon thousands of followers, you need the right ones...and a few is better then none and it is a start.
4. Optimize Your Profile: Don't just update your LinkedIn profile with current achievements, skills, and experiences, join groups, ensure it is compatible with algorithms. Check the ulr, is it your name or a bunch of numbers? It all matters.
5. Build Relationships: People didn't gain followers overnight but they can... add the people you already know. Then add people who worked at the same company as you, and then add those you have met over the course of different activities and circles. Go to a gym? Add people. At a party? Connect with them on LinkedIN At a store? Start talking to them, connect on LinkedIN
