Building a Video #15 - Restarting Your Computer
"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"
That is not just a typical line from the British sitcom 'The IT Crowd.' Turning your computer off and then back on can help remedy issues you may be having. It is a fundamental fix, but why does this primary tactic work? According to Gizmodo, where I constructed my script, you should do this at least once a week.
The article states that restarting your computer helps clear up background processing problems that slow down or corrupt your technology. Before you do restart or shut down, make sure all tabs are closed, and your work gets saved just in case. Gizmodo adds that restarting/shutting down and turning back on when it comes to Macs are essentially the same thing. For PCs, you may want to do the latter as just restarting may not cause some operations to turn off completely.
This simple method doesn't solve all computer issues, but it should be the first course of action before making other decisions. Thanks to this article and my video, you also know how often to do it and how it affects Macs and PCs. Below is my sample video constructed with the tools I had at my disposal:
Title - Why is Restarting Beneficial for Your Computer?
Slide 1 - Around once a week, it is a good idea to restart or shut down and turn on your computer.
Slide 2 - Gizmodo says restarting/shutting down helps clear out issues that slow your tech down.
Slide 3 - Before you do, make sure your work is saved and close all of your tabs.
Slide 4 - This process is a little different for those who have Macs and PC's.
Slide 5 - For Macs, restarting and shutting down/opening back up is essentially the same.
Slide 6 - Gizmodo adds that PC's should be shut down and then booted back up.
Slide 7 - This is because restarting may not turn off certain operations the right way.
Slide 8 - Restarting/shutting down may not solve all issues, but it should be your first option when having a problem.
Slide 9 - It is also the easiest solution!
For the title, I chose to format it in the context of a question. Sure, we all know that restarting your computer will help fix issues, at least temporarily, but have we ever wondered why? For the most part, we reboot the computer without thinking; it's just a reflex. Putting the title in this format will draw people because they'll be curious about why the quick fix improves their technology.
On YouTube, add in over a dozen tags for your video. Performing this tactic will help keywords that did not make it into your title or video description. For this content, I recommend the following:
Keywords/Tags - desktop computer, pc, computer monitor, computers apple, desktops, mac pro, mini pc, pc builder.
With these keywords, here is an outlook on Google Ads of the results you could get with a $2 max. CPC when running a campaign from February 1-28:
In terms of the search algorithm, optimize your video's title along with its description(the script) and tags. If you have a personal website or have made the video itself for a company, include a URL at the beginning of the description section. This area will need to be around 250 words and if your script doesn't meet that limit, throw in some promotional phrases that you believe will help people see more of your content.
