Building Trust at Work

The people you’re surrounded by, sometimes have a lot to do with your attitude towards your job.

For some, your work requires you to work in groups while others of you work independently. Either way, your interactions with others can determine the kind of day you’re going to have.

“No matter how educated, talented, rich or cool you believe you are, how you treat people ultimately tells all. Integrity is everything.”

Fostering a caring atmosphere at work can lead to better trust among coworkers.

To establish your reputation and to build a network of people to support you, trust first needs to be established.

Here are a few suggestions that can help create trust between peers, subordinates, and superiors.

• Listen to one another’s questions, concerns, or advice
• Encourage each other
• Express your appreciation for one’s hard work
• Avoid office gossip
• Share information
• Act with integrity and keep commitments
• View others as trustworthy, and they’ll reciprocate
• Give praise and constructive criticism
• Deliver results on time
• Be aware of your body language
• Welcome new hires
• Greet each other when you start your day and say goodbye to those when you leave

After all, coworkers are on the same team and ought to be working towards the same goal.

One person is not responsible for the success of a company. When people work together in a workplace, more things get accomplished.

It’s a chain reaction.

To have a more productive company, there first needs to be trust among employees.
