In today's fast-paced business world, closing a deal isn't enough. To excel, we need to develop trust and credibility with our customers. This entails creating lasting relationships with them so they keep coming back. Customers who trust in you are likely to:

  • Keep coming back as repeat buyers.
  • Act as an advocate for the brand by promoting the brand offerings to others.

  • Be willing to pay more than they would for another competing offering,

So how do we as marketers develop credibility and trust?

Here are a few things that have worked for me:

-Listen to the Customer: Take a look at their world and understand their needs, challenges, and aspirations. Actively listen to see where they are coming from, and to find out what they view. If you're selling running shoes, for example, understand running shoes and think about the importance of comfort, performance, and durability from a runner's perspective.

-Develop Relationships: Be open and honest with your customers and let them get to know you. Focus on giving them excellent customer service to establish rapport. Go above and beyond to ensure any issue is sorted and exceeds their expectations. Transparency and honesty should be the middle of everything.

-Provide Consistent Value: Supply products or services that truly resolve your customers' problems and do it with ease. Think of ways to accommodate your customers and provide convenience for them. Reward loyalty using a loyalty program or specials targeted to repeat customers. Commit to your customers by meeting and exceeding their needs.

-Use Technology in the Service of Trust: Utilize data analytics for insights on customer behavior and preferences to personalize your service to meet the customer's individual needs. Use a customer relationship management (CRM) system to save customer information and track customer interactions. Use social media to link to customers on various platforms. You can use technology to show customers that you understand them and want to deliver the best service to them.

Please remember this is an ongoing process that requires consistent effort and dedication, but it will create a loyal customer base that will drive your business forward.
