Building Traction (part 3)

Building Traction (part 3)

There can be many highs and some potential obstacles to face in a sales career.?

Sales professionals can pour out all of their efforts to attain President's Club, to win tough new clients, and to do all when the odds are against them.?

Not to mention company transitions and layoffs.?

Claire Davis, who started Traction Resume to help sales professionals with resumes and branding methods in 2015, has seen the full gamut of these cycles professionally. These experiences have enabled her to help others.?

"Having gone through 4 layoffs myself, I remember that dark place very well," Davis said. "It can suck you into a pit of despair, self-doubt, and embarrassment - not to mention financial stress."

She further explained it was not until the second and third layoff she experienced that she stumbled upon three key pieces of advice helping her to bounce back. By the fourth layoff her three keys of advice came to full disclosure:

Be prepared (before it's necessary), apply sales and marketing strategies to your own career, and that relationships are everything.?

"Now, it's my pleasure to help people get back on their feet by sharing principals I discovered during those hard times," she said. "Those 4 layoffs were great teachers. They taught me that the art of sales and marketing shouldn't be contained to efforts for a company's growth - it should be harnessed to support our own career, as well."?

Her efforts to help others came full circle when Davis was awarded the 2021 Top Voice LinkedIn by Jobscan recognition. She mentioned it was an incredible honor and a true surprise. She had been posting regularly since the pandemic started to share the lessons she learned during her layoffs.?

"I was generously nominated by others who felt what I had to share was helpful, relevant, and real," she said. "I see that award is up for nomination again and I hope to lift up some new content creators and career coaches who are wholeheartedly trying to help job seekers with timely, relevant, helpful career advice."

The answer to your question above for me, ??Claire? I would NOT be who I am today if it wasn't for the challenges. I resonate with you, for sure. After 2 layoffs since 2018, I wanted to find a way to find more meaning in my career that would help bring job seekers and companies together in a more transformational way. So far, it's been a great journey, and I am confident that it will continue to be.

Thanks for kind words. At the heart of the business profiles is to tell the story more about the business. The thoughts of the owner. Others relate to stories and thoughts. How and why did things happen. Every business person can learn and take away something from the experiences of others. Thanks for allowing opportunity to look into your business and provide a glimpse into it for others.
