Last week I wrote about how important it is to build a tech stack that integrates together to save you time and allows greater productivity. In my Restaurant Success Club Linked In Live show last Thursday, my guests from Restaurant 365 talked about how tech should be used to keep managers from spending time in the office instead of on the restaurant floor. They talked about how tech has to make the work experience better.
We often talk about how the employee wants more pay, less hours, more vacation, and better benefits. Sometimes they do. But, often what they want isn’t as big or grandiose. Sometimes they want to be heard, appreciated, cared for. Unfortunately, there are times when trying to balance taking care of your business and taking care of your people come into conflict with one another.? When tech can help you do both, that’s a real win.
Back when I was growing up in the industry as a server and bartender, we got to keep our cash and credit card tips every night. It was great! Unfortunately, a lot of tipped employees didn’t keep accurate records and some chose not to report every tip. So, several years ago the IRS began to hold restaurant businesses compliant to tip reporting. To do this, many restaurants started holding onto tips and putting these tips on the employee’s paycheck. Servers hated this because they didn’t have access to their money every night like before. Enter………. Kickfin.
Kickfin is a gratuity management solution for the hospitality industry. Now, employees can get their tips same night either deposited into their bank account or put on a cash card. What this does for the? ? employee is it gives them their tips the same day they are earned. It also creates a safer solution for the employee walking to their car late at night because they aren’t carrying hundreds of dollars in cash. It also helps the employee by recording properly how much they tipped out and to whom. This protects them more should there be an IRS audit. Lastly, by properly recording tips, Kickfin helps restaurant employees in getting personal loans for purchases like cars and homes.
As far as a restaurant business benefit, Kickfin helps these businesses in staying compliant with proper income tracking for tax purposes and protecting them if audited.?
So, you can see tech can be of great value. Creating a tech stack is a critical step in your restaurant’s success and Kickfin is a great tech company for both the employee experience as well as the added benefit of protecting both the employer and the employee. I’ve used them myself and know firsthand about the benefits I just mentioned.?
