Building Resilience in Times of Crisis
The end of the year is always an opportunity to reflect and look back at our successes and challenges, but also, more importantly, to take a step forward. For the past couple of years, with the COVID-19 pandemic, climate crisis, and the devastation of wars and conflict, looking back has been hard and stepping forward, uncertain.?
In this IFC Insights edition, we are honored to spotlight three talented, inspiring Ukrainian artists who remain hopeful and continue to create, despite a war in their country. IFC’s Kateryna Chechel , a Kyiv native, shares the stories of Angela Kuschyk, Marta Pitchuk, and Mina Sorvino whose art illuminates the resilience and strength of their people. We also feature a timely conversation between IFC Managing Director Makhtar Diop and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi as they discuss the global refugee crisis and the role the private sector can play in fostering economic opportunities for vulnerable populations.
Finally, we offer a look back at some of our best stories of 2022. This year we captured private sector examples of innovation and impact around the world, including investment opportunities in climate adaptation, the creative industries, and in digital technology for agribusiness. Even amid the uncertainties and crises, the private sector is driving solutions.
Wishing you Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Year!
