Building Resilience

Building Resilience

Staying motivated and having resilience during this time has been an adjustment. I was laid off in May 2023 due to the market and the campus program being cut. I've had short-term contract jobs, sprinkled during my unemployment. Hopefully, come November, the job market will get better. I love recruiting. I love helping people find their dream job and essentially changing their lives. I miss it.

I haven't given up. Staying motivated has been extremely difficult. This is how I've stayed motivated for the last year.

  1. I've been down this road before. It's not as scary as it has been
  2. It can only go up from here
  3. Take any recruiting gig I can get. I can add skills from those jobs to my resume, so when the market turns, I can still be marketable
  4. I got on a schedule. I wake up, work out, look for jobs, do my freelancing work, cook, etc...
  5. I have to be motivated because I am the only one taking care of myself and must stay afloat
  6. Find a new hobby!! I love the performing arts and theatre. I grew up doing it, professionally, and found a love for it (again) during 2021. This past year, I was able to be in multiple shows. That gives me something to look forward to.

Job loss is an unfortunate reality that many people encounter at some point in their career journey. Especially during tough economic times, the fear of unemployment can be overwhelming, leading professionals to panic and lose sight of their short- and long-term goals. However, it is crucial to remember that resilience and determination can pave the way to success, even in challenging circumstances.

I am a successful recruiter, with 10 years of experience. I was able to start my career during college.

I have a proven ability to manage high-volume recruitment processes,?exceeding expectations with a capacity for 17+ requisitions. My extensive experience is across diverse industries, at leading firms like KPMG,?Capgemini,?ManpowerGroup,?and Genpact. I'm adept at stakeholder engagement,?creating positive candidate experiences,?and ensuring a seamless recruitment lifecycle.

Additionally, here is a short list of industries I have worked in: Tech, Corporate, Energy, Oil and Gas, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Fire & Safety. I've also been freelancing doing Social Media/Creator Content as well. I've always said and I truly believe that a good recruiter just needs a job description to find candidates. You can teach the industry, but you can't create a good recruiter.

These last 13 months, has been such a transition for me. But I have to believe things will get better. This, I know, is a blip in my career. Just a tiny pause. I've been able to take time for me and bounce back. I am READY!
