??Building resilience for cultural heritage institutions through citizen engagement: the successful completion of the eCHOIng project

It was in the difficult reality of COVID-19 that the vision of the eCHOIng project (“Recovery of cultural heritage through higher education-driven open innovation“, 2022-2024) has been forged; a vision that can be summarised in three key-words: cultural heritage revival-open innovation-citizen engagement!

As co-creators of the #eCHOIng project and #success #story, at Web2Learn , we are very proud to contemplate and share with you its unique #achievements, as they have been confirmed by the final report and the 88/100 score received from evaluators!

A. The eCHOIng open access modules ??

By realising the need of cultural heritage staff upskilling in open innovation to enhance citizen participation in cultural heritage revival actions, the eCHOIng partnership produced a series of six (6) open access online modules! Each module tackles a particular topic related to cultural heritage safeguarding and recovery, such as war, inclusivity, data challenges and the role of advanced technologies!

Web2Learn’s module focuses on “Open innovation in academia-society cooperation: examples of cultural heritage preservation in a crisis situation”, showcasing examples and good practices implemented in the case of Ukrainian cultural heritage since the outbreak of the 2022 war. Our module has been co-produced by Stefania Oikonomou , Mariana Ziku , and Katerina Zourou .?

B. Our training series on crowdfunding for the cultural heritage sector ??

As we felt the need to provide more training opportunities for staff of small and medium cultural heritage organisations on participatory means in the cultural heritage sector, our managing director, Katerina Zourou, ideated a series of webinars on “crowdfunding” for cultural heritage staff! Thus, our Web2Learn team worked carefully on the creation of a guide with detailed steps on how to successfully run a crowdfunding campaign!?

??You can find all our materials on #crowdfunding, as well as our webinars with guest speakers, such as Jill Cousins , here: https://www.ntnu.edu/echoing/crowdfunding?

C. Citizen and multistakeholder engagement: our CIDOC Conference presentation of the eCHOIng project experience ??

Empowered by our analysis on sustainability of academia-driven open innovation actions for small and medium cultural heritage institutions (CHIs) (you can check all eCHOIng analysis here: https://www.ntnu.edu/echoing/results), Katerina Zourou, Mariana Ziku and Stefania Oikonomou explored whether increased collaborations between universities, communities and other stakeholders can help CHIs achieve long-lasting connectivity and sustainability!

Their presentation has been accepted at the CIDOC - International Committee for Documentation 2024 Conference, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (November 11-15, 2024).

Our Web2Learn team would like to thank all eCHOIng project partners, the project coordinator Alexandra Angeletaki , as well as people who worked with us to co-create such special results and achievements!
