Horton Plaza , a collaboration with Stockdale Capital Partners and RDC, is the largest adaptive reuse project in the US – converting retail to life science and research space with a net zero approach. The site keeps 700,000 sq. ft. of its original retail space, repurposes elements of its postmodern architecture, and introduces new creative office and lab space. Amenities like dining, retail, and ample green space reshape the mall into a new center of discovery. With its proximity to housing, transportation, and entertainment, the campus offers flexible, scalable workplaces.

1 年Your reimagined Horton Plaza in San Diego is a beautiful design and evolved adaptive reuse. It also brings a heightened connection to nature, much needed today in all urban areas. I wondered how you measure the largest adaptive reuse project in the U.S.? Is it purely by square feet of space? I had read that The Presidio in SF was America’s largest adaptive reuse project - it has converted more than 500 (I’m not sure of the exact number) of its more than 700 buildings, but also has added acreage to the park, restored natural habitats and created underground parking for the George Lucas offices.
