Setting the context:
Gen AI is no longer just a trend—it's becoming an important skillset today. As we work to enhance our own understanding, it is equally important to introduce our kids to this exciting new domain. With this thought in mind, I spent the past weekend educating my kids about Gen AI. Rather than sticking to just the theory, I decided to make it fun and engaging by using "partyrock.aws" .
Introducing "partyrock.aws":
It is a cloud-based platform from AWS that uses Amazon Bedrock as its AI-engine. It is a great platform for beginners, helping them create applications with minimal coding knowledge.
Getting started with the purpose:
So, we were all set with partyrock.aws (with a free signup); and the next thing was to agree on the problem statement - what should we build? We brainstormed on few areas and then decided to build a "university advisor" - a simple application that will provide names of top 3 universities for under-graduate programs based on the country and grades as mentioned by the user.... so three clear inputs required to run the application.
"create an application that takes the stream name, grade percentile and country name and return the top 3 universities with their fees structure and admission criteria"
Testing the new application:
As we submitted this request for generating the new application, within few seconds, the application was ready and we were ready to test it now. The application published 3 input boxes, we typed in our entries and then waited to see the magic ..... the AI-advisor generated the outcome with the top 3 universities based on the inputs we entered.

We spent few more minutes to test the application with different criteria and the results were quick. My kids were super happy and I was happy to introduce this platform to the kids - a fun and an educational medium. As a caution, I also suggested them to review the results, since Gen AI generates probabilistic data, so there can be situations where the output needs to be thoroughly reviewed before deciding anything. As of now, it was just for learning purposes.
Apart from building quick apps on partyrock.aws, it offers another interesting feature which is related to accessibility. By default the access type is private, but you can make it public or share it with only few friends/users.

Summary:
My teaching session got over in 20 minutes, but my kids did not stop. They continued ahead, played around with this platform with few more use cases -
My mission was successful - educating my kids on Gen AI, sharing the cautionary measures and introducing them to a user friendly platform like partyrock.aws. It is just the beginning!!
