Building Leadership Bench Strength in 2024

I’ve just finished reading the 2024 HR/L&D Trends Survey: Navigating the High-Expectation Work Environment? released yesterday by Blanchard.

?According to the report, compiled with input from 1,200 people in 70 countries, “The overarching theme of this year’s survey is the challenge of navigating an environment characterized by constant change and economic uncertainties.”

?There was a lot in the report on talent development:

  • Companies must increase individual capabilities to keep pace with the rapid rate of change.
  • Developing leadership bench strength is a key priority.
  • Growth opportunities must support individuals at their current job level and contribute to their overall career aspirations.
  • An important part of employee engagement includes ongoing learning·???????? opportunities: training, workshops and coaching.

?What constitutes strong training and leadership development? According to the report, participants must:

  • Find the training engaging and relevant to their job
  • Acquire knowledge, skills and aptitude based on their participation in the training
  • Be able to apply what they learned once they’re back on the job
  • Be helped to meet targeted objectives as a result of the training

?I’m encouraged by the remarks on strong training. The Learning Circles I’m offering in the new year tick all the boxes: engaging and relevant to the real world of work, participatory, memorable models that can be used immediately, and opportunities to discuss individuals’ context and outcomes. And in a world where budget constraints are a reality (yes, Blanchard talked about this too), Learning Circles are among the most affordable options in the field.?

Starting in late January, I’ll be offering two online courses, Foundations of Leadership and Accelerate Your Impact, along with my colleague, @Doreen Harvey. Reach out if you’d like to learn more, and find out about Early Bird rates.
