Building High-Performing Teams in Global Operations
My Approach to Managing Diverse, Multi-Lingual Teams?
As someone leading global teams across different locations, I know firsthand that managing diverse, multi-lingual teams can be both a rewarding and challenging experience.
At 维布络 , we emphasise five key habits that have helped me foster collaboration, drive operational excellence, and ensure engagement across my teams: Being Respectful, Being Responsive, Always Communicating, Demonstrating Stewardship, and Building Trust.
Here’s how I apply these habits in managing high-performing global teams out of Wipro Romania
?
1. Being Respectful: Embracing Cultural Diversity?
One of the first things I’ve learned in leading a global team is the immense value of cultural diversity. Diverse teams bring a range of perspectives and ideas that spark innovation, but to tap into this, I make sure to respect and appreciate each team member’s background. I take the time to understand the cultural nuances that shape their communication styles and decision-making approaches.
By fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and included, I see stronger collaboration and more creative problem-solving. I encourage my team members to share their cultural insights, which helps us build a deeper mutual respect.

2. Being Responsive: Prioritising Clear and Timely Communication?
Communication is often the biggest hurdle in global teams, especially when we’re spread across different time zones and languages. I’ve made it a point to keep communication clear, simple, and timely. Whether through video calls, emails, or collaboration tools, I make sure my messages are easy to understand, and I encourage my team to do the same.
Being responsive also means being mindful of everyone’s time zones. I rotate meeting times and aim to answer queries promptly, so no one feels left out or delayed. This habit helps us maintain efficiency and alignment across locations.

3. Always Communicating: Fostering Collaboration and Inclusion?
Regular communication is essential for keeping everyone on the same page, so I emphasise transparency and open dialogue within my teams. I actively encourage updates and check-ins to ensure we’re all aligned on our goals.
Creating opportunities for cross-functional and cross-location collaboration is something I focus on because it helps break down barriers and allows my teams to learn from each other. I also pay close attention to team dynamics during meetings. Some members may be more reserved due to cultural differences, so I make it a point to invite contributions from everyone, ensuring that all voices are heard and valued.
4. Demonstrating Stewardship: Setting Clear Goals and Fostering Accountability?
In my experience, teams perform best when they have clear goals to work toward. I take responsibility for setting specific, measurable goals that are aligned with both our broader organisational objectives and the individual strengths of my team members. Regular check-ins and feedback sessions help keep us accountable and focused on achieving our targets.
Beyond just driving performance, I see myself as a steward of my team’s growth. I invest in their development by offering opportunities for learning and mentoring, which not only boosts their skills but also enhances the overall strength of the team.
5. Building Trust: Leveraging Technology and Strengthening Relationships?
Trust is the foundation of any successful team, but it’s even more critical in a global setting where face-to-face interactions are rare. I work hard to build trust by being transparent, consistent, and accessible to my team members. I use technology to keep us connected—whether it’s through collaboration tools or shared document platforms—so everyone has what they need to succeed.
But beyond tools, I make an effort to foster personal relationships with my team, checking in regularly to see how they’re doing and organising virtual team-building activities. When trust is strong, I find that my team is more engaged, collaborative, and resilient.
