ExO 2.0 Launch Event Summary / Turning your company into an ExO Company: Companies of tomorrow
Today’s webinar with Peter H. Diamandis and Salim Ismail | ExO 2.0 Launch Event was as impressive as all of their business endeavors. Both these men have been pioneering the next generation of corporate companies that will not resemble what we see today: a top-down approach vs a collective ideology approach. I recommend everyone spend the three hours to learn and check out the webinar for yourselves. But first! Why I appreciate this revolutionary information.
The first version of the book came out years ago and I devoured every chapter. I began to implement these strategies in my own business. In fact, I started one of my companies RMPStudio and have been focused on publishing business authors because I saw the trends ahead of most and saw there was a need in the space of personalized publishing. The industry of publishing continues to evolve rapidly and we are preparing to evolve with the times, going fast and breaking things. LOL anyhow here is the summary of todays 3 hour webinar. Here are the highlights of the webinar and the bottom-line ideas.
HOW TO BUILD ExO COMPANY
1. Select a Massive Transformative Purpose (MTP): This is the mission statement for your organization that provides a larger purpose to work towards. For instance, Google's MTP is to "organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful". According to Peter this MTP is not about bottom line financial gain rather bottom line global impact.
2. Join or Create Communities Around Your MTP: Engaging with or creating communities can help create a network of supporters and potential customers. For instance, Tesla has a strong community of EV enthusiasts who evangelize its products and mission to transition the world to sustainable energy. And now the community of OPENEXO is also a resource: https://openexo.com/book
3. Compose a Team: Assemble a group of people who are skilled, adaptable, and aligned with your MTP. SpaceX, for instance, assembled a team passionate about making life multiplanetary. According to Salim if the MTP of the person does not fit the MTP of the company this is not a good fit.
4. Identify a Moonshot (Breakthrough Idea): This is your grand, game-changing idea. For Google, it was creating the most efficient search engine. For Uber, it was establishing a reliable transportation service everywhere, for everyone.
5. Build a Business Model Canvas + ExO Canvas: This tool will help you visualize your business model and identify how you can implement the SCALE and IDEAS attributes. For instance, Airbnb's business model canvas includes leveraging assets (people's homes) and engaging a community of hosts and travelers.
6. Find a Business Model: Determine how you will create, deliver, and capture value. Netflix, for example, adopted a subscription model to provide unlimited content to its users.
7. Build the MVP (Minimal Viable Product): This is a simple version of your product that solves the problem you're targeting. Dropbox started with a simple MVP – a video showing how the product would work, which generated massive interest and a waiting list of customers.
8. Validate Marketing and Sales: Ensure that your product is marketable and that there is a sales strategy in place. Amazon began as an online bookstore before gradually expanding into the eCommerce giant it is today, validating its model every step of the way.
9. Implement SCALE and IDEAS: Infuse your organization with the 10 attributes of ExOs. For instance, Uber leverages assets (drivers' cars), engages users via a streamlined app, and utilizes algorithms for efficient pairing of drivers and riders.
10. Establish the Culture: Promote a culture that encourages innovation, adaptability, and alignment with your MTP. Google, for example, allows engineers to spend 20% of their time on projects they’re passionate about, fostering a culture of innovation.
11. Ask Key Questions Periodically: Regularly reassess your organization, market conditions, and MTP. Companies like Amazon do this by maintaining a startup mentality, regularly questioning their methods and making adjustments as needed.
12. Build and Maintain a Platform: Use technology to facilitate the growth and scalability of your organization. Facebook, for example, developed a platform that now serves over 2.8 billion monthly active users and supports millions of businesses with their advertising platform.
These are the basic steps involved in building an Exponential Organization, which when implemented strategically can lead to rapid growth and significant impact in your companies.
