Grupo Gráfico Romo. Unparalleled value through the whole supply chain
Earlier this year, Romo GNM partnered with consultant Anthony Thirlby to optimize and transform its production processes with the installation of a new press. Together, they successfully implemented a “Push to Stop” strategy, streamlining operations from prepress to press and postpress, minimizing manual touchpoints at every stage. By establishing standardized operating procedures, Romo GNM has been able to achieve the lowest operating costs per sheet while maximizing commercial returns. In just its first month of operation, the new Speedmaster XL 106 press produced an impressive 6,000,000+ sheets, highlighting the efficiency and productivity of the optimized system.
“The Speedmaster XL 106 enables us to be competitive in this new world of printing – helping us to be more efficient and live up to the high standards of today’s customers regarding pricing, quality, and faster turnaround times,” said Elias Sidauy , CEO, Grupo Gráfico Romo? .
New cooperation in the growth segment of paper packaging
HEIDELBERG and Solenis, a leading manufacturer of specialty chemicals, announce a collaboration in the field of paper packaging.
The aim of the agreement is to develop a cost-effective process to integrate barrier coatings for fiber-based packaging directly into the existing roll-fed flexo printing process with the Boardmaster from HEIDELBERG. Barrier coatings are used to prevent water or water vapor, hot and cold liquids, oils and fats from leaking out of or penetrating into paper packaging.
The new Bordmaster web flexo printing machine, with its production speed of up to 600 meters per minute and an availability of up to 90 percent, offers the ideal conditions for this.
"The growing global demand for sustainably produced, cost-effective, recyclable and compostable packaging makes the flexible paper sector an attractive growth market for us," says Dr. David Schmedding , Chief Technology & Sales Officer at HEIDELBERG.
New matte finishing technology for digital inkjet
Gallus Group, a subsidiary of HEIDELBERG, is poised to transform the narrow-web print landscape with its latest research breakthrough: Gallus MatteJet technology. Announced at Labelexpo Americas 2024, the landmark innovation represents an important advancement in inkjet printing, unlocking a premium matte finish previously unachievable with digital inkjet, bringing the possibilities of inkjet technology to the wine label market for the very first time.
At the show, Gallus explained how this transformative innovation addresses one of the key challenges that has historically restricted the growth of digital inkjet technology. Importantly, visitors were able to see how MatteJet will transform the entire market segment for wine and spirit labels and provide converters with the key to a profitable new area of business growth.
“The development of Gallus MatteJet technology marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of inkjet printing, opening up a world of new opportunities and ultimately, completely transforming the very foundation of what’s possible with inkjet technology,” comments Dario Urbinati , CEO, Gallus Group .

Around the world in 24 hours
Did you know?
25 years ago, HEIDELBERG opened its new World Logistics Center (WLC) at the Wiesloch-Walldorf site.
Over 95 percent of the parts ordered are available immediately and delivered to the customer within 24 hours.
Today, the WLC always has more than 130,000 part numbers in stock. This means that HEIDELBERG can provide over 95 percent of all service part requests immediately for delivery and reach their recipients worldwide within 24 hours. For the printing industry, which relies on high availability of its machines and on-time delivery to its customers, this is an immense service advantage that only HEIDELBERG can offer in this quality. This is made possible by a global logistics network that was established in the decade following the opening of the WLC.
Training at HEIDELBERG supports orientation as a total solution provider for hybrid print production
HEIDELBERG is a technology-neutral total solution provider that offers its customers a hybrid production environment in which all systems are integrated into a workflow, processes run largely autonomously, and the software decides on the most economical output device. To achieve this, HEIDELBERG needs junior staff in almost all job profiles with the greatest possible affinity for IT and digital issues who can actively help shape this unique direction in the industry. This is why HEIDELBERG offers its trainees intensive support from experienced staff right from the start and early involvement in practical projects, including internationally if necessary.
"The challenging training at HEIDELBERG is a central pillar of the company's competitiveness as a total solutions provider," says Jürgen Otto , CEO and Labour Director at HEIDELBERG.
