Building for the future

Building for the future

As our business looks to grow and cement ourselves as the No.1 Workplace technology provider, how we recruit and what we offer is becoming a hot topic.

I speak to many other sales directors, hiring managers and recruiters on what job seekers are looking for when applying for roles, one thing however is very clear - what an applicant looks for and what an employer wants can sometimes be on very different trajectories. Whilst every role has a Job Description issued by the employer I am seeing candidates asking very different question in interviews which are not related to the role itself.

Some of the questions I've had over the last 6 months and would say have become standard are:

  • What is the culture/ethos of the company?
  • What are the benefits outwith the salary such as pension %, life insurance, critical or medical cover?
  • What are the working hours - is there flexibility?
  • What is the Working from home policy now and when is this reviewed, will it be in my contract?
  • What is the dress code?
  • Is there any workplace wellbeing benefits?
  • Do you do Pizza Friday or similar?

If i go back to 2018 these are questions that rarely popped up in interviews across many positions but now are commonplace, so much so that generally as a hiring manager I will bring these up myself as these are the things that in 2024 could make or break the acceptance of a job offer when recruiting.

As the recruiting manager we tend to focus on the role, the training, what they bring and how good they will be in that role. However, we forget that for them to be successful in the role if we offer them the position that there needs to be a positive, happy environment around them to allow them to flourish and be happy. We all know the old saying " happy employees are productive employees"

We have seen the great resignation since Covid where staff re-evaluated their life, their careers and made changes. Thankfully we are beyond this now and this has plateaued but we are now faced with the next threat to our business "quiet quitting" where staff that are not happy in their role have disengaged and their productivity and efficiency drops due to a poor or toxic working environment.

At Agilico our philosophy is that there are no greater assets in our business than our people. We foster an environment where staff can expect hard work and dedication to be rewarded with investment in their continuous professional development. This is along with a benefits package that we feel will help attract the best of talent to our organisation and set us up for success in 2024 and beyond. As we expand and grow our business one of the key pillars to success is undoubtedly our talented people.
