Building Financial Awareness in Rural Telangana

The Financial Literacy Camps (FLCs) conducted by BAIF Livelihoods, Telangana in partnership with HDFC Bank Parivartan, are designed to address the unique financial needs of farmers, Self-Help Group (SHG) members especially women and rural communities.? This initiative has resulted in economic resilience and development.?

Held in Kondannagudem village of Rangareddy district and Gottimukula village of Vikarabad district, these camps empowered more than 320 participants with essential financial knowledge and access to banking services. The objectives of these events were to enhance financial awareness, promote sustainable livelihoods, foster economic resilience and provide access to comprehensive financial products of HDFC Bank. ?


At the first FLC held in Kondannagudem on September 21, 2024, 158 participants engaged in an interactive session led by HDFC Bank officials, including Mr. R. Ramarao and Mr. P. Anil Kumar Reddy. Discussions focused on agriculture loans, crop loans, cattle loans, SHG loans and the documentation process. Attendees clarified their doubts and were satisfied with a clear understanding of the available financial opportunities.?

Similarly, in Gottimukula village on September 24, 162 participants benefitted from a dynamic exchange led by HDFC Bank representatives, including Mr. Srinivas and Mr. Rakesh Uppala. The session highlighted various loan products and the importance of financial literacy in achieving sustainable livelihoods.?


Both events reflected a strong collaboration between BAIF Livelihoods and HDFC Bank. BAIF's Deputy Chief Programme Executive, Mr. B.K. Hemanth Rao, introduced the team from HDFC Bank and alignment of the sessions with community needs. Feedback collected during the events underscored the positive impact, with participants expressing gratitude for the accessible financial solutions and direct communication with bank officials.?

The camps concluded with networking opportunities and lunch served for all the attendees, thereby forging a sense of community kinship and collaboration. This partnership continues to strengthen rural communities with knowledge on financial literacy and tools to secure their economic future.
